YO GEORGIANS! :)

My DD decided to try a diet that doesn't have any preservatives in it so she sent her shipment of Nutrisystems that was already paid for to me!  Got it today, at least the dry stuff.  The frozen stuff comes tomorrow!  Anyway, she also sent me the whole BeachBody Tai Cheng Program.  It is designed to help us with our balance, flexibility and strength.  It's suppose to be for me and DH, but he says he doesn't want to do it because he's too old and his body is broken.  Well, duh!  That's what this is for!  Helps you be able to bend and move again!  Believe me, I'm not as bad as he is!  He is the one who should be using it!

So, I need to lose about 35 pounds.  (Again)  Wish me luck!

My mom teaches a special Tai Chi class for mobility and flexibility. It helped her a lot and she wanted to help others

So what are you using as your thermostat to turn the element on/off? that is the only reason I haven't ordered the one from GQF.
the guy who had started this build had bought an actual incubator control center. It's an Inkbird tech ITC-1000. it will let me set it with a 1 degree temp difference, but it won't let me break down into decimal points what I want it set at. So I have it set at 100, it turns the heat element off at 100, then it will typically ease up to 101, then it cools back off to 99 and it kicks it back on.

I put two computer fans in it, at the top near the back. I've moved the thermometer/hygrometer to the top, middle and bottom. Top and bottom both read 100, but the middle shelf only gets up to 97, I'm wondering if I should put another fan in, or maybe angle these two down a bit.

as for the humidity, I put a 9" round cake pan in it, and watched it climb tp 74%. then it jumped back and forth from 73-74. I let it stay like that for a while, and then opened the door to move the gauges around, it settled into the 65-66% range, and that's what it was after closing it up for a few hours when we got home from church tonight. Now to figure out how much of my pan to cover to get it into the range I want for incubating, now that I know I can bump it for lockdown!

ok so I turned it off because I needed to spread out the insulators a little bit because the element started sagging. It stretched when it got hot. Took a few of the off to spread them out farther apart, and realized it's getting so hot it's melting the plastic in the top of the cooler. It does glow red while it's on. So I leave it off tonight, and tomorrow I go see what kind of heat shield I can find to put in the top so it will be directly above the heating element.

I sure don't want to burn the place down......

Awesome, and I need to loose that much plus some so we could be weight buddies on the honor system. I still til my garden so I can move around but the weight really bothers my hips. So what do ya think?
Anyone have a use for a Cream Daisy or Marsh Legbar cockerel?

Wish I had room for him pretty bird but I sold a bunch of roos and some of my babies, the ones I hatched, not my special babies, and not my smokey blue grey one.

My Leghorn girls are getting their grown-up looks. They are fairly quiet in nature too, so far. Love them!

going to bore you all with the pics of my WCB mods..... covered the gaping holes the guy put in, and sealed all the smaller ones as well. Then with the help of a couple of the good peeps here on the yo ga forum, put some more holes back in, trying to model after their expensive fancy dancy store bought high dollar bators

covered from the bottom, I did the same thing inside, and filled the space between with expandable spray insulation

vent hole in the side. Another one like it in the back center top. Both Eric and GAM said they have two holes in each spot but one stays plugged. I only drilled one, if I need more I can drill more. No point in drilling a hole just to plug it

the two computer fans and the mount I made for them. Used a piece of the metal I had made the box from to cover the original heating element. I put a computer power supply on top and powered these from there

the heating element. I realized after it started heating that it was going to stretch, and I'd need to spread the insulators some. I let it run while we were at church, to see what temps and humidity would be

so when I got home from church, pretty satisfied with the temps and humidity. I'll have to play around with how much exposed water to have in for the different stages of incubation/hatching, but at least I know I can raise it into the 70s. I turned it off to let it cool so I could spread out the insulators and found that the plastic was melting directly above the element at two of the insulators. I left it off over night, went this morning and bought a piece of heat reflective flame retarding rigid insulation board, and cut a piece to cover the whole top inside. Reinstalled the heater and we'll see what it does now. I could quote the flame retardant numbers off the board, but they didn't really mean anything to me, I figure that is surely sufficient to keep the heat away from the plastic

Nice work, PapaChaz! However GAM lied to you. She has three vent holes on the right side. IJS, you gotta take what she says with a grain of salt.

no she told me that, and I saw it on the picture. Eric and I discussed that one, we've come to the conclusion after looking at the extra 'water tank' you can buy from GQF, which is nothing more that a 5 gallon bucket and a hose with a cheap looking hose crimping cut off on it, that the hole in the middle is strictly for that hose to go through if you want to put the bucket on top to maintain the water level.

but without that bucket, that one stays plugged as well

Ummm.. But it's a hole just like the others.. Which would make it just as much a vent as the others.. Isn't it? (Going to check)

Yep. Vent hole. Two have the difference of not having the rubber lining- just a raw edge plugged... But the one that's "lined" (which I'm assuming is the odd one out y'all are saying is "strictly" for humidifier) is the only one I have open.

:razz

I'm right. Y'all are wrong.

I'm kidding. I don't care that much about being right on this one.

Even though I am.
