YO GEORGIANS! :)

went out and cleaned my coop earlier, my OE laid her egg in the poop tray instead of the nest, and it was eaten........

I'll be keeping an eye on her. I don't know if she laid it overnight and it just looked too tempting, or if she laid there on purpose and then couldn't resist. First egg eating I've had with this bunch......they have oyster shell available, and I'm feeding 22% layer pellets. If she turns out to be a cannibal, she'll be on the smoker soon

So far none eaten, but my one bantam seems to like to either lay it when she goes on the roosting bar at night and drop it into the poop, or first thing in the morning right in front of the entrance door to their run area.

Ok I need to make sure I'm treating my chick correctly, I have a chick that has a wry neck and the post said to treat it with vit. E and selenium so I have crushed up a 1/4 of the pill and mixed it with the oil and have given it to my chick and it is still eating and drinking, it's condition isn't that bad cause I just caught it so it is still able to be in with the others, so what are the lasting effects? I understand wry neck is caused by a vitamin deficiency. Would you go a head and cull or treat?
I believe we used oregano and some other herbs to treat it in our pekin.

Worming laying hens?

And, GO.

As much as I'm all for natural remedies, I feel like my one hen in question needs a little stronger remedy.. I've fallen behind the 8-ball on realizing her issue, it just hit me yesterday. She's losing weight, not laying and her crop is never very full at all-- whereas all others eat like horses. Duh, I feel so bad.. But I've never worked my flock(s) before and have never had an issue. Guess it's time, at least for this pen anyway.

I used Strike III earlier in the year when they weren't laying anyways.

Hi. It's me the silent room stalker. I've been afraid to say anything and jinx my chances. A few of you might recall I was previously whining about the sudden lack of humidity control in my Styrofoam genesis incubator. I played with it and reset for test purposes some eggs from my Mottled Cochin pen that I knew had a high fertility rate. I set an even dozen one day and 4 more 3 days later. at day five 2 of the original set were not fertile. Total set 14. I had one hatch last night about 9:30pm and woke up to a total of 7 baby Mottled Cochins stumbling around getting their strength. An 8th is almost out now. I think in my old house the internal humidity level was just fluctuating too much with our weather changes. Since the days have gotten more or less steady so has my incubator humidity. I have not had any drops as in my previous hatch. Everyone looks happy and strong with no apparent issues.

Now comes the um what now as I have (Thanks again Cliff) 11 babies including 3 runner ducks and 3 Blue Copper Maran's from my last hatch (ebay babies). Their new place will be done tomorrow for them to move in to as the chicks are all feathered out. Wow now am blessed with possibly 14 new baby Mottled Cochins :)
