YO GEORGIANS! :)

I have thought about that too. If I breed a lavender AM to a French BCM that lays the dark eggs, I figure they would be OE but what color would the chicks be or once grown I should say? Since you breed black AM to Lavender AM to get better lavender and splits, would any of the chicks from the Lavender AM and FBCM produce any FBCM with lavender where black would be?

I just hatched a bunch of OEs! Lav AM over Black Marans. All my chicks are black with some yellow highlights around their faces. They have a few leg feathers and big puffy cheeks!

3 beautiful silki free range roosters in need of home. Guyton,ga, 30 min from Savannah. 2 white, 1 patridge with blue. Born in February. Have been free range since birth. Looking for someone who needs roosters for breeding.

Hey all

for those who are FB friends with me, y'all know we were on vacation out of state to a family reunion. I had my daughters, neither of which were able to go with us, stopping by every day tending to things, gathering eggs, making sure water was there, even though I know I have the big water system.....

anyway, when we got back last night it wasn't long before dark by the time I got to get around to check everything, and a few of my girls were already on the nest. My splash hen, which was hatched last sept, has become sick. Raspy breathing, very watery poo, very lethargic, messy messy bottom......

she's the only one like this, so I don't think it's a feed/water related thing. suggestions? other than the wormer and isolation which I've already done

Man this heat!
I have chicks that I picked up on the 25th I believe it was, Although they said they'd just came in, I think some were older. My guess is they're all anywhere from 3-4 weeks Anywho, this heat is killing us! They've been on my screen porch (in their box) because it has been nice and warm. I've only brought them inside on the cooler nights we had that were 67-70. Well today is a good 97 degree high! I put ice in their water and have a fan blowing on them, they're still seeming hot. I tried to toss them just a little but of treats of frozen watermelon and corn, they didn't care for that tho lol. They've drank and ate, attack the bugs that find their way in the box, but mostly they're laying down, a couple panting, one looking like she's trying to bite the wind from the fan when it goes her direct

They're on medicated chick feed, I noticed some runny poo today, but there's always some of that so I didn't notice any more than normal or any blood to cause concern. Will they be ok? Should I just bring them inside?

What should I do about not getting any new eggs since my hen went broody? Should I check one night to see what she is sitting on? Should I candle what's there and remove non developing? Then mark the developing ones so that I can know each day when I check? Would looking under her every night mess her up?

you should have marked the ones she had originally, and raise her up daily and take out any others the rest of the girls are giving her. If it was me, I'd go out tonight, raise her up, mark a few and leave them, and then go out every day and remove all unmarked ones. Candle the ones you take out tonight or just dispose of them

Luckily, right after I asked, I caught her off her nest. I marked all the ones that she is on. She has 18. I will check daily from here on out. Should I candle the 18 one night and see which are developing?

It has truly been a learning experience. Next time I will mark on day one!

you can candle after about day four, but it's easier to tell around day 9 or 10. I'd seriously doubt she'll hatch 18, but leave them with her and candle after about a week and see what's happenin :)
