I killed titanium drill bits, claw hammer handle and many jig saw blades, my DH just shook his head and asked how, then said never mind, I don't want to know,

needless to say when I build something we make a trip to the hardware store first, oh and I had to replace his hammer. Well I now have my own set of tools as I'm not allowed to touch his without supervision,

I ran over a nest with my lawnmower a couple weeks ago. Had to beat on the window and get my son out there because I couldn't get them off me. I was almost in a panic. Glad you didn't get into them!

2.50 is a very low price for eating eggs , I have never bought hatching eggs but that sounds low to . What is the going rate ?
 
All the babies have been moved to the adult run as of tues night . These girls have been free ranging for weeks at night they go back to separate coops , untill tues I threw scratch in the run all the girls ran in to eat I thought it is a good day for the transition.. They look like a high school dance the two groups each looking across the run at the other . How long do you all think they need to stay locked up before the babies will call the big coop home , I love for them to have grass time every day .

at least 4 for eating, more depending on where you live, 6 for hatching eggs, I lost so much, the guy tried to pay my DH for the hatching eggs and DH wouldn't take it so, 2.50 for 2 dozen eggs, crazy,

I ask for $10 the first dozen and $5 for any additional dozen for hatching eggs. My eggs are mixes, but I offer many different colored eggs layers. And, usually, no two chicks will look alike!

X2. They need to be rotated if you are saving them for hatching. I just put them in the turner......not in the incubator and turn the turner on. Then, when I'm ready, I just put the turner in the incubator and there you go!

I'm not sure what the issue was with my batch. I had a few variables: Stored them at 80 degrees, new rooster, different time of year. I really think it was something other than turning the eggs though as I stored them the same way i've done all my previous eggs and had a 90%+ hatch rate even keeping eggs for 2 weeks. Regarding the rooster - usually if a hen is fertile, she is fertile. This time I had 10 eggs from the same hen and only 2 developed. It is possible he is just a young rooster and didn't connect till the last couple of eggs.

Either way - i'm trying again storing the eggs at 60 degrees and keeping them moving. Here's to hope :)

On a good note - our 1 survivor hatched last night - she is BCM over FWM (Wheaten). Looks like she picked up most of the BCM traits. It'll be a long 6 months but I can't wait to see the eggs (assuming she's a she).
