YO GEORGIANS! :)

@ShadesofSable
  - What kind of incubator do you have?  I have a Hovabator and bought a $5 usb PC fan off amazon - it fit perfect and has done a great job (even bought a spare in case that one goes out).

btw - do you know what  what you get at auction for the mixed chicks.  Is this the auction out in Villa Rica?

I just hatched 17 - Once I can sex them i'm going to want to get rid of the cockerels.  Would be nice to know what they go for.

Thanks

No clue how much they'll go for! This will be my first time going to one.

I had the computer fan, but my mistake was trying to run it off of a battery. I bought a 12volt adaptor off Amazon and it should be here Monday. Going to give it one more try, and if I can't get a better ratio with the fan I'm giving up on this one and buying/making a cabinet incubator.

So my black Minorca has been red faced for weeks! I'm pretty sure she is laying. Problem is that she jumps the fence every day and I haven't figured out where she is laying them. Guess she will be a visitor of the juvenile pen for a while. Clipping her wings hasn't helped since she just hops over!

All of my blue egg layers have taken to leaving the big yard ... I still have not found where they are laying. Worries me too since I worry about them going broody somewhere unsafe.

I realize some of my girls are getting under the house, I bet there is a boat load of eggs under there, I keep the crawl space cracked so my outside cats can go under there if they want and they must have told the girls, hey it's cooler under here that under you chicken house.

Here are my beautiful babies

About cats.......
This is Bob. She is a rescue cat. My DD was working at a park and was driving home late one night, It was raining hard. She slammed on her brakes because she thought she saw movement in the middle of the road. She got out of the car to investigate. (She was a park ranger) She found one kitten alive in the middle of all her squished bothers and sisters!!! So sad. My DD took it straight to a vet she knew. The kitten was so infected with crude and was almost hairless. It's tail was broken. Her eyes were completely closed with infection! The vet told DD that he didn't think the kitten would live thru the night. He didn't know my DD very well! A week later, with antibiotics and lots of gentle care, my DD took the kitten back to the vet. He could not believe it was the same kitten! But, they did have to remove the tail. He was so glad that my DD cared so much for this abandoned kitten, that he did not charge her any fees! Thru the years, Bob had eye problems. So about a year ago, the bad eye was finally removed. A few months ago, she had to give Bob to us because for some reason, after years together, the other 3 rescue cats my DD has accumulated, have been beating her up! It went on for 6 months. So, we finally told DD we would take this one eyed, tail less cat. She is a sweetie. Lives totally indoors with us. Loves to cuddle and if you quit petting her while she is in your lap, she will gently take one paw and tap it on your cheek to remind you to keep petting her.

So, thanks to all who rescue animals! They usually make the best pets because they know you gave them back their lives!

Chickens are official outside chickens and have survived their first night. They figured out food really fast and have been totally pigging out. I don't think they've figured their water out yet, but I'll try to show them again when I get home from work. They all slept on their droppings board all cuddled up in the corner...which, though not ideal, theoretically means they pooped on it, as intended? I'm hoping it's an adjustment thing and they'll sleep up higher as they figure it all out. They had been sleeping perched in their brooder, so hopefully it's a matter of time.

These kitties are so sweet!! I love a good rescue story. Both of my dogs are rescues too, they're the best. I really want an outdoor cat - my DW is too allergic to have one in the house, but I'm hoping one adopts my garage/barn thing and I can take care of him or her.
