YO GEORGIANS! :)

Station 22, wherever that is. Looks like a weak tornado. You can see the wind/rain wrapping around while you watch the video.

Got a little worried for a few minutes as they showed rotation headed right for us. Threw the kids in the basement but nothing ever happened.

I just checked, and Station 22 is next to the UWG campus, so that's on the other side of Carrollton from where we live.

If one of the smaller ones, wrap it in towels, etc.  Just be sure to be there when power comes back on so you can take those things off.  If power isn't off too long and you do't lose too much heat you should be ok.

We're looney enough that we have a generator on stand by for the cabinet incubator

Our generator is at the lake house now & my husband doesn't want me driving west to get it. I think we have a power inverter that I need to go look for. Big bummer is I've gotten an awful stomach flu or food poisoning overnight & can hardly move. I'm just worried bc the brinsea doesn't have much insulation.

Glad ya'll are ok. Its been bad down here in West Point as well, but not that bad so far, by far. Since we have no buffer at all from the lake in front of us, the wind is worse than my neighbors. Wednesday is suppose to be worse, that coming from my news guy friend. Ya;ll all stay safe!

Thanks. That strong line of weather has at least past you now, so hopefully the wind will start to die down.

The online weather site I like to use is Weather Underground (Wunderground). If you're not familiar with it, it's an excellent site that uses data collected from home weather stations. The WunderMap is my favorite feature.

Funny thing, I was just looking for a good app with good alerts, I don't have cable, and I live in the country, so pretty much I get the basics online, and just watch

2X GAM - Also, temp drops aren't as bad as temp spikes. For example, I remember reading about a major hatchery that had left some eggs out after hours for a customer who was going pick them up to serve them as balut (a dish from the Philippines). Well, the customer never picked up the eggs, so the next morning the hatchery just put the eggs back in the incubator, and they hatched later with very few losses.

I had last month a hen abandon her nest during the cold snap I found the eggs The next morning all cold I thought I had lost them I put them in the incubator because someone advised me to try well low and behold before the next morning I had chicks hatching from 11 eggs I had 10 hatch so never give up on eggs they might just suprise you!

We never got our high winds, not the ones we expected, but of course, tornadoes can pop up out of nowhere so we're still on alert. It's not even raining now.

Hey, @brucifer my husband and I both went to West Georgia College, now University of West Georgia, as it was when both our sons graduated from there. My grandfather had a farm in Carrollton most of my life until up into his 90's when he had to go live with his daughter.

This is for all you Naked Neck haters! Their is a friend of mine in Arizona who has spent the last 5 years breeding her most naked neck to her most naked neck. She finally produced totally naked chickens! In the winter, they wear coats she has made for them! This one's name is Rudy. Adorable!

You can eat turkens. I'm pretty sure they're considered dual purpose. A lady I bought some from a while back always butchered her extras and said they were tasty.

When I don't have access to the barrel plucker that I use from time to time I just skin my birds. So much faster and easier than hand plucking.
