YO GEORGIANS! :)

Much thanks to all of you YO GEORGIANS for a very enjoyable outing yesterday. Great company, great food (and lots of it) and a good time visiting and learning from others was the order of the day.

The food was awesome. The boudin was as good as any I had during the 2 years we lived in Baton Rouge, the delicious potato salad and super-rich pound cake reminded me of recipes my mother used to make, and the pulled pork was perfect. But those weren't the only things that I could not resist having second servings. All of the food was so tasty that I couldn't stay away from the spread in the kitchen and now will have to spend this week trying to work it off!

Tabasco Jack, you are a real champ for hosting last minute, especially while trying to keep your farm show-ready for prospective purchasers. I hope you get a buyer soon. Thank you Flowerbh for inviting me and for driving. Livhatcher, I'm glad there was one apparent mix-up in the order because my wife was surprised and delighted with the t-shirt I bought for her.

For anyone who participated in the swap and got eggs marked JG, I'll try to share info if you are interested and would like to know how the hatch turns out.

YO GEORGIANS are all really good eggs!

'Well, I filled my incubator! 54 eggs in a 42 capacity incubator! LOL! My friend brought me 10 purebred Crested Cream Legbar eggs on top of all those I got at the swap! I will candle them at around 5-7 days and will probably then have the right space. Until then, I will rotate the eggs around so all will have an equal opportunity in the turner.

Today was clean-up day! Since I sold all my babies, I had to clean several cages/brooders! Seems so strange to not have babies in the garage! I do still have the three baby ducks I hatched 4 days ago.

The KC duck I got from Jack just went right into the same aged Runner Ducks I have like she has belonged there all her life. She stayed with them all day all over the yard. Definitely a female since my adult Runner duck nailed her right off......which pretty much leads me to have to acknowledge that my 4 baby runners are all boys since my adult R duck is not the least bit interested in them and I still am not hearing one quack! Bummer! I will have to choose which one I will be keeping. There are two that I really like more than the others. So, just have to decide. Maybe keep the two to see how their personalities develop.

Too funny. For what it's worth, the K-C ducks hatched on April 14th. And if she needs a female friend, I can hook her up with one or two! I hope you are pleased with her, the parent stock lays a lot of eggs.

John, we saw you at the start of the picnic when we first got there, and at the end of the picnic when we were leaving. So, THAT'S where you disappeared to during the middle of it all! lol

Thanks for the compliments on the potato salad. I'm waiting on my chicks to hatch so I can put in the new ones. I was hoping they'd all be out today. So far we have one out, one zipping, and I think 3 pipped, out of 8 eggs. Hopefully they get their little butts in gear.

I got 5 out of 8. I think the running around chicks messed up 2 of the other 3. One looked to have died a few days ago, probably right after lockdown. One tried to pip on the pointy end and hit a vein. One internally pipped, but didn't externally. 2 girls and 3 boys are alive. What's the going rate for a cream legbar? I was thinking $5 for a girl and $3 for a boy. But I bought mine as adult and can't find them on my local craigslist, so thought I'd ask since I know some of you have them.

I know boys start at $8.00 so I'd say girls should start at 10.

Thanks @katsdar and @brucifer ! My son is trying to convince me to keep one of the girls. :p I have a hard time selling babies as it is. I always say I'm going to sell them, then like 2 months later I finally do. I love the baby stage. Lol. This is my first time trying to sell some of the cream legbars though.
