YO GEORGIANS! :)

I don't remember if I asked before, but the time has come. Anyone know where I can rent or borrow a chicken plucker near Macon/warner robins?
I know that $350 is a large chuck of money, but CoopNMore has medium-sized pluckers on sale right now. CnM carries lots of processing equipment and the ribbed rubber fingers if you want to build your own plucker. We have made several orders through CnM and recently bought about a dozen of their small hanging feeders for our brooders. They were $2.90 apiece - money well spent. Anyway, CnM's prices are good; shipping is quick; and, they're on the ball. After you receive your first order, I believe they include a 10% discount code for your next order. Here's a link to their Monthly Specials webpage: http://www.coopsnmore.com/category_s/1814.htm

I looked at it last year after the fact. I had one batch of quail that was set on a prime date. The hatchlings were healthier and grew bigger than the others. I'm trying to time hatches and rabbit breeding this year to the calendar but no results to compare with as of yet.
I will let you know how my July hatch goes. I am setting it accordingly. Was actually noticing prime date was 6/3 and I set mine 6/2. I've just entered the world of crazy spreadsheet & note keeping, so this is just another stat to track.

Thanks for the link!!!! I give you a cookie, :D

Someone we know has to have one. If you do it, please let me know. I'd like to learn.
I finally have mine back. You know how it goes when you loan stuff to friends. Geesh.:frow
I built a Whizbang plucker a few years ago and it works great. And last year I built an electric scalder big enough to fit the turkeys in.
Y'all want to have plucking party?

I use the Bellsouth Hatchabatch app. It's a poultry supplier not the phone company. You enter your hatch details and it reminds you of key dates. It links to your calendar. It doesn't do numbers and percentages but it does a great job of dates and reminders.

If you weren't so far away from me, I'd love a plucking party. I've never processed chickens before, so this will be a learning experience.

I used the Ihatch-chickens app. I have used hatchabatch too, but I like the I hatch one better. And it does do the percentages for you and keeps track of all your hatches. Only has chickens on it though, which hatchabatch has other poultry.

And if you want to come over when I process, you are welcome too. If that's what you meant. I haven't done it before, so we'll see how it goes. I have a little less than 30 to do.
