YO GEORGIANS! :)

Yo Georgians! Does anyone have any hatching (but very close) or day old ish chicks for sale within about an hour of atlanta? I've got a stubborn broody buff and I'm looking for 3ish to allow her to hatch out. Also, it's the only way I think my wife will agree to more chickens. :celebrate

Here is the study from the Japanese professors/program ... https://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/article/jpsa/51/3/51_0130043/_pdf
I would have been surprised if this study had made it to publication in a credible US or UK journal. Right off the bat, the sample size is too small (N=14). The problem with that is that statistical power is way too low, so although the researchers had 8 successful hatchlings out of 14 set eggs using their method, it leaves room for a false positive result (spurious conclusion). The next problem that they have is that the literature review is much too narrow and is focused mostly toward previous Japanese research. The body of US and UK research has mostly been ignored.

Being my cynical self, I noticed that the study was funded by a grant through the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, so it makes sense for political reasons why the study would feature Japanese science and Japanese students.

Anyway, aside from the politics, and the research, the method has been around for sometime, and I think it would be a fun project to do at home. I hope your embryos continue to develop and that you successfully hatch some Saranwrap chicks.

Have you checked Standard Feed n Seed off of I20? We've gotten some chicks there in the past and they order only pullets.

I'm not sure where that is. I ended up finding a guy on Craigslist who just gave me three eggs out of his incubator, which was nice. I popped them under her broody buns and hope that she keeps on them for another week. Currently formulating 4th of July chicken names. Paul Revere, but Reeva if she's a lady? Betsy Ross - Betsy for a hen, Ross for a Roo?
