YO GEORGIANS! :)

One of seven I have an extra delaware rooster, but am on the opposite side of the state in far west GA.... Are any georgians here on BYC heading to Augusta that would transport for him????

If yes, I'd be glad to help. Nancy

hmlongino, Apparently I gave my husband some gorgeous BCM eggs about 18 days ago, to help fill out a tray..... I'm not one to count "your chicks" before they hatch. But please say some hathing prayers, If they hatch well, they are yours!

Rain! Rain rain rain rain rain! IT'S RAINING! And it's COOL! It's SO GREAT!

I am definitely a happy camper right now! XD

Glad I decided to put off moving my month old chicks to the outdoor cage though xD;

Just a reminder to all the GA folks to be CAREFUL where you get your birds. A while back, I bought some pullets and a roo that looked fine... until I got them home. Within days, they had swollen eyes and were dropping like flies. I had exposed my flock to MG... and had to cull everyone.

After eliminating and cleaning... and waiting... I found someone nearby who seemed very careful. I bought 5 chicks that *seemed* healthy. One died overnight. One died two days later. One developed a swollen eye. Everyone had to be culled.

MG, and other respiratory diseases, are rampant. Birds who have been exposed can seem perfectly healthy, but be carriers FOR LIFE. People, knowingly or unknowingly, are selling birds from diseased flocks... spreading these illnesses like wildfire.

Closed flocks are only CLOSED if there is NO transfer of animals... even for studding!!! I cannot wait to get a healthy, disease free flock, and stay CLOSED.

*sigh*

Be careful out there!

Holly, I'm standing with you on this, even though it doesn't make me "Prom Queen" with the cool kids. I'll be fighting Marek's forever, and being NPIP doesn't matter on the surface. We'll make it work, one day we'll be "better", but for now, it will be a looong time before we realize our dreams of providing healthy, vaccinated, Federally recognized, non-hatchery dna-guaranteed pullets for backyard hobbyists.
