YOGURT AS PART OF TREATMENT AGAINST INTENSE COCCI INFECTIONS

I am not a fan of medicated feed eith but you gotta do what you gotta do to keep your birds healthy. I have read that the only "medication" that is in medicated starter/grower is the same as in Corid which iis just a thiamin blocker. The parasite has to have thiamin to live and Corid and the medicated feed blocks the thiamin.

Most feeds have just amprolium, but not all:

That one has bacitracin, it's supposed to help prevent NE.

So I have a hen who free ranged all summer and is just finishing her molt. During the molt 3-4 weeks ago I saw she looked a little weak legged and promptly crushed B complex (thiamine) into the water supply for a few days. Her limp and stature is improved--legs working well-- but This last week or so I've noted paleness to her face, and yesterday we had this gorgeous 50 degree day and she hung back in the coop and roosted all day indicating to me she wasn't feeling well. I noted a dropping a couple days before with red tinge to it and I am now suspicious this was her and that she has cocci. I had a small jug of Sulmet on hand and started her on it. Corid supply is about an hour away from me in a bigger town.--But given her weak leg issues I wonder if Sulmet is the right drug to try first anyways. Kathy has told me before it only has coverage for a few strains of cocci. But my fingers are crossed that it will nail my strain or a common type that hopefully if she has cocci--this is it. I'm thinking about boosting her maybe with some yogurt today now too after reading this. They get ACV everyday in the water. I'm just wondering though...maybe that B complex added to the water fed the cocci strain in her weakened molting state. There seems to be a lot of give and take with these things and susceptibility to advancing latent diseases especially around molting time.

What do you all think of my plan of action?

Maybe get the Corid anyways?
