Yolk not fully absorbed

[/IMG]Our last chicken hatched last night. Our first chicken had leftover goo (yolk) hanging from her behind and she is doing great. However, our last chick hatched last night and I'm not sure if it's her intestines or what hanging out. She's still in the incubator fluffing but not very active. She has gotten up a few times and I've been giving her some sugar water. I'm running on no sleep and it's going to break my heart if she doesn't make it. Someone please help. I'll post a picture as well.

Welcome to BYC! It's great to have you.

Looks like your latest chick may have an open navel. Sometimes the last of the skin doesn't quite close before the chick hatches. Sometimes they survive, though other times they may not. You may try applying Neosporin (without pain medication) to the area while it heals.

Thank you. The hanging piece was almost off yesterday but it stunk so I snipped it off, wiped its bottom off with a warm wet paper towel and applied neosporine. It's already drying up. Fed her some surgery water with a dropper and put in some boiled yolk pieces. Today she was up and looked much better. Went and got some probiotics and put her in the cage with our other small chick that's a sweetheart. They've been up playing, pecking, and sleeping on each other!! So very blessed she is doing better.
