You might be a “Southie” if...

snakes. SO many snakes. AND we here in ALabama ...well, as if there wasnt enough reasons to never stop watching the ground, have FIRE ANTS. Wanna know how many times my Yankee self has been educated in why you never take your eye off the ground?
I cant count that high. I have stepped on those stupid ants so many times. youd think Id learn.

ahh.. well, Roll TIde...we will be rivals soon. :plbb
Oh dear! :lau
Let's just remember that I'll always be a Nebraskan at heart... does that help the situation? Also I agree, ant bites are so painful! Here we also have cow killers. Do you guys have them? Rumor has it they hurt bad enough to kill a cow, hence the name. I've never actually been stung as whenever I see one I make sure to give it a VERY wide berth. I don't want to test the theory even if it is just an old wives tale.

nobody has told me about cow killers, but BUT...they probably have them here and just call them something different. Im convinced there was never supposed to be as many wasps of all varieties as there are in Alabama. But nothing kills them, and it doesnt get cold so they just keep on keepin on, ya know?

Saw this recipe today and thought of this thread since we were talking about Moon Pies a few weeks ago (made in the southie territory of Chattanooga). The store bought ones are ok but not something I’d go out of my way to buy. These homemade ones, however, looks like my kind of Moon Pie! They look a little labor intensive but oh so good! I don’t have all the ingredients but plan to make them at some point. If anyone tries the recipe or has made their own homemade ones before, let me know how they turn out and if they’re worth the effort.
