For the record, no duck is my master. As a matter of fact, I enjoy seeing them out on lakes and in the wild, but I really do not enjoy keeping the smelly critters! We was invaded by southies doing their evil masters, the dux, dirty works.
I have nine ducklings (used to be thirteen but they found the pond and wouldn't come home at night--they did come home the next night--a sadder and wiser (but smaller) conglomerate duckling). I say there are nine but really they are one collective duck. Everywhere they go, they go in one fluid duckmentuous flow. I think they are hilarious. Lucky we have a big place for them to run around and spread the poo. Otherwise I might have to eat them. For the record, no duck is my master. I probably wouldn't mind them if they could free range around our property, but they share a coop with our chickens and make the place quite a smelly mess, we have to keep them though cause my sister loves them. I have found one thing that has really helped the health of my chickens and keeps the place from being such a muddy messy has been getting a nipple waterer. Anybody know why when ducks have a pool they will still make a mess of a waterer given the chance?I have nine ducklings (used to be thirteen but they found the pond and wouldn't come home at night--they did come home the next night--a sadder and wiser (but smaller) conglomerate duckling). Because they are ducks! Or the freezer, refrigerator, ovenTrue Northerners know the only place to keep dux is in a composting pile or bin.![]()
Confining ducks away from water that they can splash and play in is completely against their nature.
