No no no no... they have the okra looking poison pod right next to it.

That flower is like the three leafs on poison ivy, pretty but deadly.

My honey bees have more sense than to go to Okra trees.

I actually, have a sit down with my bees once a week where I tell them what they can harvest pollen or nectar from and which ones to avoid.

I have never seen an okra plant before... Now that I have seen one, I would describe it as a cactus flower stuck onto some weird mutant greenbean-jalapeno mix. Is that what they taste like? Seriously though, I've never tried okra and now I am curious...

They're good. Especially fried. They have sort of an unusual texture that I think some people don't like (kinda seedy & gummy depending on how you cook them.) Great to thicken up soup.

Okra is related to hibiscus, and the flowers are similar. But the big leaves are 5 lobed, looking more like cannabis...I used to be afraid people would think that's what we were growing, but now both are legal here.

I say you should try everything at least once! (*Almost everything* *disclaimer included for the sake of the uptight ones here. Don't try drugs kids not even once!)

Okra may just be one of those things you just aren't going to like unless you were born and raised on it like most of us Southies have been.
But you'll never know if you don't try it.
