I can’t tell you, cause I don’t know, I have thought about pulling a Nuc and trying to keep them alive instead of a whole hive. I would pull the queen and two or three frames of workers and brood. It would cut the cost.

Nope.

There were feral bees years ago, but mites took them out.

that would work worse than trying to overwinter a whole hive. not enough bees to keep them sufficiently warm in my opinion. Also i highly doubt that you have no honey bees there when they live fine in canda
