When you keep setting eggs under your broody hens, even though you don't have any more broody boxes.

You know darn good and well you haven't got the coop space for more chickens.

Your brooder box is full of new babies.

Your teenager house is full of older babies.

You've got two chicks running around your house so that they can stay pretty for the county fair that is still nearly 3 months away...

And you can't stay away from the auction forum looking to see who has what eggs available!

I think I'm sick!

Does anyone have a cure???

OH GOD!! I am a crazy chicken guy!! I dream of them.. can't waite to get home after work to check on them.. and say in the cutest girly voice..."gooo morning girl's...awe....daddy loves you!!...the plymouth rock at two weeks runs over to be picked up.. while the Rhode island reds look at me like I'm NUT's!!

I know I'm a crazy chicken lady because my little buff orpington was in distress and I thought it might be that she was egg bound, so I gently rubbed olive oil on her vent and then stood with her in front of a heat lamp for 20 minutes, saying "push, push!" every couple of minutes until that big hard egg popped out! Now she's in the nesting box (probably a couple more in there) and I'm having a coffee, proud as punch that I knew what to do to help her feel better!

I didn't think I had anything notable to add to this thread until this morning. I got up and made my way to the kitchen for my automatically made every moning coffee. The cat was sitting in front of the cat food automatic feeder crying for food so I grabbed the bag and began filling the 'at will' feeder...looking at it......and wondering....why the cat food.....was so small....OH MY GOSH, thats not cat food its the CHICK STARTER!!! So, you may be the crazy chicken lady if you out-do the crazy 'cat' lady by filling the cat food dispenser with chick starter!

PS. Whats worse is that I just poured cat food on top of the starter in the bowl and figured I'd fix it later....I needed coffee before making any more complicated thinking. Well....after all.....there's lots of food in sacks at my house!

If you make a special trip to the grocery store miles and miles away in 95+ heat with no air in the truck just to fetch them a watermelon and some plain cake donuts for breakfast tomorrow....
