Hello there,
I just went to count & close our hens up & notice one had a white eyelid partially covering her eye.
Anyone know what this is? Hoping it’s not eye worms.
Thanks in advance

Hi, thanks for the link. This morning I managed to catch her & take a closer look. It’s a white discharge, now in both eyes. I cleaned her eye did not see worms, I have oldish eyes! I put an ophthalmic ointment that I had in each eye it’s neomycin based?
We really don’t have a vet around here that looks at chickens.
Any other ideas, she lives with 24 other hens in a large hen house at night & free range in the day.
Thanks so much

I would perhaps try VetRx if you have some of you are worried about worms.

PoultryDVM says neomycin is safe and often used with poultry.

No nasal discharge or breathing difficulties, right?

Hi, so our young Marans spent the day in a quite cage within the hen house. I brought her in to clean her eyes & reapply the eye ointment. Her eyes looked much better (this morning I also applied to her head & nasal area warmed vetRx) this evening I can hear congestion. I have applied vetRx to her nasal area, her head & under her wings as per instructions.
What do you think? Upper respiratory?
Thanks in advance
Anne
