I spotted the first blooms on the summer peas this afternoon. I'm watering late into the night. May have one block to finish watering in the morning.

Sounds like he is being well fed home grown good foods.I've been in the garden early am because of this awful heat. Still no rain but the soaker hose seems to be really helping. Purple hull peas are flowering and have small pods. I saw some tiny butternut squash forming.
Yesterday I picked about 8 quarts of greenbeans, a bunch of cucumbers, yellow squash and zucchini. I also blanched and froze the 4 quarts of green beans I had picked through the week.
No gardening today. Today is my grandson's birthday. Seems like yesterday I rocked him in my arms. Now he turns 18 yrs old and he's 6ft tall! So proud of him!Good young man!
I can't believe he is 18. When did I get old???

Yes he is!Sounds like he is being well fed home grown good foods.
That's what grandparents are for. Teaching like the school system can't and then we get to brag about it to the world. Teaching kids how to garden and raise chickens is a great accomplishment.Yes he is!
I homeschooled him for the 1st 8 yrs. He is the reason we have chickens. Started as a homeschool project. He also learned about composting, growing food, water cycle, etc though gardening. We even did math, scientific observation, research and report writing. He is not wasteful and very environmentally conscious. Loves his veggies!
Ok...I'll shut up now.
Guess I'm just another bragging grandma!![]()
No, brag away! That kind of young person give me hope for the future! He also learned about composting, growing food, water cycle, etc though gardening. We even did math, scientific observation, research and report writing. He is not wasteful and very environmentally conscious. Loves his veggies!
