Your 2024 Garden

Didn't get the trellis higher on the tomatoes and they really need another wrap around them but we did get it done on our eggplant and peppers. They really needed it too. Depending on weather I hope we can get the tomatoes done tomorrow afternoon. If not it is a must do project for Monday afternoon. To tired do start tomato and pepper seed tonight so that is a few minute job for early in the morning before I get nappy headed after I eat lunch.

Hopeful for a shower this morning. I will still need to water the plants in the greenhouse. More chances for rain the next couple days. We need some.

No gardening yesterday. Cook a ham, fresh cabbage and potatoes from the garden.

@Sally Last year I had bunnies sneaking through my fence. They headed straight to the green beans. Those little rascals can get through the tiniest places.

So far nothing bothering any of the garden except for the 3 horn worms I found. I think there are 2-3 more that I can't find. Maybe the chickens found then. I'm surprised the crows aren't pulling up the latest planting of sweet corn. We did get ear worms in the early planting of corn because I didn't dust the silks with sevin dust.

I'm going to dust the corn silks on the latest sweet corn that still has silks forming and see if I can save that patch from ear worms. We still got several meals from 4 rows that were about 7' long at the end of the first patch. Could have had more had I been not doing so much other stuff in the gardens. There are only so many hours in the day. Some things even got done under a head light on my head so I could see what I was doing.

We got about 3/8-1/2" of rain last night. Everything looks better!

Except the row of bush beans. My 3-4" high plants are now gnawed on, 1" stubby stems.
It has to be something small. No footprints. But whatever it was ate the entire :duc row!
Repels All is a great product to use. I recommend the granules vs the spray. You could put the granules around where the plants are and it will keep anything away

Yesterday we were to have a dry evening so we could dust some things in the garden safely after the bees were gone to bed. That's off if the storm hits us like they say we have rolling in a couple of hours before dark. Can't dust wet foliage. Really need to get the worms that are in the tomatoes and stop ear worms in the sweet corn. We have a few tomato horn worms and a lot of little worms that are boring into the green tomatoes.

Daylilies are blooming

I've picked two squash so far, lots of little ones growing.

And it's been DRY. Every day storms roll through but we only get sprinkles. Last night rain was predicted, but the storms dissipated. I went outside before bed and poured water on the soil around the squash plants.
