Your Antibiotic of Choice

FYI - while we are on the topic...

You can buy antibiotic pills from online pet supply stores without a prescription. They are marketed for fish, but the same as any other meds except for the package. I keep Doxycycline on hand for Kennel Cough in my dogs, and Amoxicillan for emergencies. My vet said that for skin and ENT issues in pets and humans Cephlaxin (aka Keflex) is better, so I have that too.

With all that I didn't think I would need other antibiotics, but after learning how fast birds die I decided I needed something injectable, so I added Tylan. I probably would've gotten Baytril instead if I had read this first, but at least Tylan was available at the local TSC.

If you have an extra $20, get the Baytril. If you have turkeys or peafowl, also get some metronidazole (Fish-Zole).

Kat where do you get your large bottles of safeguard and how much do they run, thinking i need to go bigger them little bottles just ain't cutting it here.TS C never has enough for me to buy for a few wormings, i use 1.5 bottles in 3 days worming.
I really need a gallon at a time if the shelf life was long enough cause i use it on my dogs and bacon sausage and pork chop will be receiving it as well

I got my 1000 ml bottle from the vet, it was about the same price of buying three and a half of the small 125 ml bottles. I looked but couldn't find my receipt, the 125 ml bottle was 20.83, it seems like the large one was around 75 to 80 dollars. My vet also got me the best deal on metronidazole when I bought 200 they were .16 cents each.

I think you need to get it from KsKingBee's vet

You can get a 1000 ml bottle (equals eight of the little ones) from Jeffers, or from several different sellers on Amazon for about $120. That's about a quart. You can get a full-on gallon from Jeffers for $425. Shipping is free, either way.
Or see if KsKingBee's vet will mail you some of those liter bottles at his price and save $40 apiece on 'em

I may be getting a wholesale price the way the office help was acting, but I do spend a bit of money with them. Her necropsies are $30 but I don't get a fancy report like Kathy did with hers. Fecal exams are $16 with tax, etc.
