Your Perfect Rooster?

Culling doesn't always mean killing... it just means getting rid of undesirable stock. I know some show bantam breeders who sell their culls to pet homes. :)

...but yes, it does USUALLY mean killing, just not always! lol

I definately always want to have a Speckled Sussex and a Buff Orpington rooster. I have one of each now and not only do they get along with one another, but they are also kind to the hens and have never been agressive towards people. I agree with what was previously stated, though, all roosters are individuals. I once had a Buff Orp rooster who would attack anyone except me. I send all mean roosters straight to freezer camp.

Thank you all it seems that a BO is what people seem to like. My neighbor has a RIR and he is absolutely beautiful and my girls have been spending time at the fence visiting with him, now that he is allowed back out of the coop. I think they kept him locked up due to the aggressive dog they had which has been "culled"

. The dog took all the tail feathers last year but they have grown back in beautifully.

I would avoid a Roo with single comb (Leghorn) They are the ones that attack their owners. I would choose an Aseel Rooster over the banties, Leghorns, and other single combed velociraptors. I have been eyeing a flock of Aseel roos, they are so well behaved as opposed to popular belief that Aseel roosters are fighters etc.

Pro: Big, elegant, sturdy
Con: Their crow is like they are chocking, which might be a pro as it is less annoying than the full crow of some breeds!!
