Your Plans For 2020! (Chat/Discussion)

I LOVE this thread!! Makes me so excited for spring and to see what everyone does with their birdies!!

Right now my plans are to get my two flocks integrated so I only have to clean one coop and can keep everyone warmer this winter. So far one of the new hens thinks she’s a man and has been challenging the rooster and my bossy old hen has been very mean to the new girls :( so I guess my immediate plans are to have them all get along!! But overall, I want to combine their coops for more floor space and add a human sized door so I don’t have to crawl inside I also wouldn’t mind hatching some mixes from my own birds since I have one broody, but I’ll need to be able to sell them. I also want to start a big garden next to the birdies! It worked awesome last year for weeding and veggies I forgot to pick. Lastly, I want to plant something so the girls have natural shade during the summer. Any ideas? I see someone mentioned grapevines... that may work!

Here they are!

The male I see currently going through a partial moult so looks a little tatted.

We have the same immediate goals and challenges. I'm trying to get 2 pullets and 2 cockerels integrated into my hens, but I have one hen that wanted to fight to the death with a cockerel. :barnie I'm going to try again, but take her out first. Doesn't get me into one coop, but I'd just like one happy flock, or a flock of girls and a bachelor pad. And yes! Biggest spring project is one large coop that I can walk into!!! I have apple, pear, plum and cherry trees in the chicken run as well as berry bushes. Works great in the summer, but it's a challenge putting up bird netting between the trees.
