Zane and Shadow...Roommates? (Cute Pic, post #79)

Mine still rate scrambled or hardboiled egg and sweet potato ( warm and mashed) as their favorite food.
Shadow looks SO pretty- what a honey!

Ok, now I'm getting a little too mushy even for me!

But she really is darling Cyn. I know if I had a girl with a face that sweet, she'd probably have everyone around here wrapped around her little toe for sure! Her face kind of reminds me of Gimpy. You can just see the gentle nature of her in those eyes **melting some more here**

I have made my crew baked squash (Butternut is their favorite), whole wheat pasta, steamed, scrambled eggs, leftover fish (boned of course), leftover beef and they will knock you down for steamed brown rice. Pretty much anything I eat except white potatoes, they get a little of provided it is not too spicey. When I cook for them it is bland bland bland. Bake them a seed block. Mix scratch, whole wheat flour, eggs, water, sunflower seeds (unsalted roasted), flax seeds, cornmeal, oatmeal, oat bran etc etc that you have around at the time and bake it in a cake pan at 350 degrees until it is browned on the top. Let it cool a bit and they will annihilate it.

Cetawin, I am so totally grabbing this recipe for my girls! They're going to love this. So, this begs the question...how far should I be letting things cool down before I let the girls dive in? So far, since its so ridiculously cold out here, I let their mash of oatmeal, corn (and added tuna for protein today!

) and milk cool to about the same temperature you would serve baby formula at. Should it be cooler than that? Can I let it be warmer than that and not hurt the girls? The last thing I want to do is scald little chicken tongues ya know!

What other sources of protein are good to give them? I'm not sure I want to give them back their own eggs as a source. I'm too greedy to have all of the eggs you see!

Edited due to technical difficulties!

I let it sit for about 10 - 15 minutes in cooler weather. You can test the center or break it in half and make sure. The first few times, I broke it in half to see how hot the center was. They did not care that I broke it. LOL

Fish is good protein, a nice porterhouse works too....trust me they will eat a steak without thinking twice about it. hahahahaha

I understand why Zane is scared of her.... she is just too cute to be hanging out with big ole barred guy like him. It is the whole Billy Joel n Brinkley thing.
