No, I haven't contacted Doc about this one. If it's not something I can do at home, there isn't much point. We have no $$$ to spend on anything like shots, no way to take him to a vet if there was one who knew anything about birds anyway. I can cook for him, give him vitamin-charged water and aspirin for pain and allow him time to rest and heal, if he can. If it appears that he's going downhill and will not recover, then we'll have to decide that his quality of life is gone. Poor Zane. Why him?

It may take a while...this was one trauma ontop of another for him and Goddess only knows what goes through their little walnut sized brains...I KNOW what goes through Obelisk's though...WIND! LOL

Jill, yes, Lexie is his mom! He is Lily's full brother. Makes him very special to me, to have both my Hawkeye and Lexie for his parents. We were just outside with him in the little coop and my DH was rubbing his side under his wing. Zane stretched his neck across my DH's arm and closed his eyes during his massage. He's just the most calm, sweet, personable boy you can imagine.
I agree S.C. that the emotional jolt of losing his buddy plus the trauma to his body gave him quite the double-whammy. He shows such intelligence for a young rooster, I hope he sees how much we want him to pull through.
