That is such a bummer! After raising them and integrating them into my flock they aren't what they were supposed to be. Hopefully they lay dark eggs, then all will not be lost.

I am having this problem right now, too. My coop and run are pretty secure, it has 1/4" square wire on all sides and there are no holes under the walls/fence. There is only one spot on the run that has 1"x2" wire on the roof. So what ever it is must go up the 4ft fence to get in, and the nesting...

The light chick ended up being a rooster and the dark chick is a hen.

Well, there was a lot of speculation regarding the sex of my two chicks. I thought I would update to let anyone who is interested know that the light chick turned out to be a rooster! I was pretty surprised by that, and the dark chick was indeed a hen. Here is a picture of the "light chick" now...

The lighting in the kitchen was kinda bad, but here it is my FIRST Cream Legbar egg! It feels like I have been waiting forever for her to lay, probably because I thought she would start laying at about 17 or 18 weeks and she thought it would be nice to wait til the ripe old age of 27 weeks!
