Home Depot Animal House Chicken Coop

Has anyone used this coop? Would you recommend it or nah? I will definitely need to add the expansion run but overall what's the consensus? Thanks! https://www.homedepot.com/p/Animal-House-Large-72-5-in-Modular-Chicken-Coop-and-Poultry-Cage-with-All-wire-Sun-Yard-5403680

Buff Brahma Roo in central GA needs home

I have a very nice 9-month old Buff Brahma rooster who is all alone (my hens were all killed last summer when I was in the hospital), and I would like to trade him for a few laying hens, any variety. Would take any age, chicks would be okay. I am about 30 miles south of Atlanta. Here's my guy...

    Big Buff Orpington Roo

I have a 1 year old beautiful big, friendly BO rooster that needs a good home. He's an escape artist and I can't keep him in his pen! But I think mostly he gets out because my other dominant roo chases him out. He has a BO hen who follows him around, she can go with him if anyone wants to start...

    Golden retriever nightmare

We got a golden retriever puppy last summer who has turned into my birds' worst nightmare. She's a super sweet dog, intelligent, eager to please, super playful. I have 3 other dogs and have trained them all to coexist peacefully. I even had them all stay together in the chicken pen last summer...

I have a beautiful buff wheaten Polish crested rooster for sale in Williamson, GA. Can deliver if not too far away, can not ship. He's about 6 months old, a little flighty but not aggressive. Has been free ranging. I can send more pics. Would be a great stud!

    Strange looking eggs

Hey everyone. Some of my eggs have some strange discolorations, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what causes them. One egg has a dusky whitish coating, but not over the entire egg - just in some areas, and it's always circular. The coating cannot be rubbed off. Another egg has whitish...

Orange with white tips on wings-looks like Brahma in face

Hey everyone, I don't have a pic yet but will get one today. This bird was rescued from animal control. She is large, friendly, and orange with white tips on her wing feathers, lays large, sometimes double-yolked eggs. Her face looks like a Brahma, and she doesn't have much of a comb, if any...

    Rescued turkey-tom or hen?

My loving husband brought home a turkey from animal control. No idea where he came from, how old, etc. He is very tame and sweet, follows my chickens around the property. All the old-timers say it must be a tom because it has a beard, about 2 inches long. I've never seen him flare his tail, but...

How old can an egg be before you try to incubate it?

I recently lost a couple of my favorite hens. I have some of their eggs in the fridge that are probably 6-8 weeks old and most likely fertile. I know the chance of hatching is remote, but has anyone ever been able to hatch an egg that was that old? Is it completely impossible? Thanks, Christi

How long should I keep them penned before they can free range again?

We moved my flock of 20 birds to our new 6.5 acre homesite about 2 months ago. New coop wasn't built yet, so we let birds free range during the day. At night, the older hens that had been used to roosting in a coop would roost in dog carriers; the younger birds were happy to roost in the trees...

Partridge silkie - boy or girl? How do you tell?

Someone mentioned on an earlier thread that you can tell male or female by the coloring on a partridge silkie. I have one that is 15 weeks old now and if it is a roo, he hasn't started crowing yet. I have a white d'uccle roo at the same age who has been crowing for a couple of weeks now. I am...

Stupid question - do chickens get ticks?

I know chickens will eat ticks - but is it possible for chickens to carry ticks in their feathers and transmit to other pets or people? I found a deer tick between my fingers and my husband says it's from handling my chickens so much. (He's obviously jealous of the time I spend with my birds)...

What color is my silkie, and pullet or roo?

This little guy is about 14 weeks old and very sweet, though I have seen him pecking at some of his flockmates that are quite a bit larger (like my barred rocks!) No crowing yet, even though another bantam I have at the same age is crowing like crazy (so cute!), so hopefully she is a she. What...

What's wrong with this "Ameracauna"'s neck?

I got this pair of chicks from my local feed store, they came from Ideal and were billed as Ameracaunas. The black-headed one has really full feathers around the neck area, but the golden one's neck seems to be nearly bald. They are around 12 weeks now and starting to grow little beards. Sorry...

Broody EE for trade, excellent mother!

I have an 8-month old EE, pretty light brown bird, rather small, who started laying at 20 weeks, small cream eggs, and then went broody about 2 weeks later. We allowed her to set on 7 eggs from our other hens, and she hatched 5 of them. She stayed with the chicks until about 2 weeks ago, when...

Salmon faverolle - colored like a hen, crows like a roo!

I got a white little feather-footed chick from the assorted bantams bin at the feed store. She always had mostly white with some tan coloring on her wings. She has always had a very red comb. I read that the faverolle roosters had very distinct coloring. This little bird is still very white with...

Hazel lays tan/brown-ish eggs. I don't know what breed she is. Help?

Broody hen, great mother, what breed?

Here is one my my rescues from animal control. Her name is Littler (named by my 8-year-old, for obvious reasons - the other 3 that came with her are twice her size). I've had her since last Sep and she has been a great bird, went broody in March on fake eggs, so I gave her some Ameracauna chicks...
