My question is not fire related, but this fire is breaking my heart. Several friends have lots homes, numerous friends evacuated. It's incredibly sad.
Here is my unrelated question: my chickens are around 15-16 weeks old and they are getting loud! Not crowing, just squawking. I read somewhere...
They are buff orpingtons and made very cute yellow chicks just a few months ago! They just look so different from each other so I couldn't tell. Thank you!
We are looking at moving from the Springs to Monument. Anyone know the rules on chickens there? I am looking and looking and can't seem to find it anywhere, so I thought this might be quicker.
That is super helpful, thanks! My Brahma is the dominant one and she is so bossy! Bossy describes her perfectly. And, she is so loud. Anytime she gets food, she runs around the yard squawking and making a seen...even if no one is following her. It's quite entertaining.
Another question from a new chick owner: when is pecking order established? My chicks, that are now 2 months old get along so well...I'd love if pecking order was already established. There is definitely a dominant one, but she's not mean. Does that mean pecking order is established?
Thnks for the help everyone! I don't think it's my coop that's lightweight. I've never posted a picture before. My husband made it and its anchored to logs, but it sits up so the chickens can hang out underneath it. I'll try some of your suggestions! Thanks so much for everyone's help.
I need some advice, please. (First time chick owner) I moved my 5 chicks to the coop yesterday. They were so excited and did great last night with a heat lamp. But, they came out of their coop this morning and I think they can't figure out where their food and water is? I'm not sure. They keep...
Maybe that's my issue. I believe they are 3 weeks old on Friday. They do the keep away thing also! Maybe they will get more interested in the upcoming weeks then...
My chicks aren't interested in any of my treats. I have tried small pieces of spinach, cherry tomoatoes (cut in small pieces), scrambled egg, and shredded cheese. They just kind of play with it for a few minutes, but never really eat it. They then lose interest. Any other suggestions? I heard...
Hmm, they get an organic feed that I buy from a local farmer. He said that it wasn't a protein problem or he would have problems. He said sometimes you just get a bad hen with a chicken and that some are just more aggressive. He said the kind that we had (white leghorn) wasn't great for small...
So Cornbread is my now lonely chicken who was attacked by an aggressive chicken we had. She has been healing the last two weeks and her feathers are growing back! (That's leftover tar...long story). Anyway, 2 questions: 1) what are some foods that are good to help her feathers continue to grow...
