We've been getting eggs for 2.5 months now. Our oldest hold backs are 4 weeks old (some extras for sale) and our youngest are hatching now (also for sale). Can't wait to see what our breeding pens are producing this year since we finally got everyone separated out like we want.
Anyone ever seen a "Lady Grey" Basque rooster?
We are excited to use him in our Zilarra project. Too bad he's not heterozygous, but I'll take focusing on the Silver gene first. Yay!
If you go to our website, you can see 4 Basque eggs, with 2 duck eggs in the center banner: http://worthitfarms.jigsy.com
They are kinda washed out in that lighting but you get the idea. Sometimes they have speckles on the shell.
Wanted: Zilarra type rooster. We are DESPERATELY searching for a Zilarra-type purebred rooster for our breeding program. We have three REALLY nice Marrduna roosters and could trade one of them for one an outside roo. Would prefer NPIP, but necessary. Anyone have anything that could help our program?
I think I agree that you have only one little pullet.
That last rooster, was it hatched from pure Basque breeding? We had a few come out that color (from a very dark crele-type rooster that was a temp roo) and we assumed they were mixed with Swedish Flower. Didn't realize the Basque, even a...
Our SFH/EO chicks that hatched were all basically Millie Fleur looking or mottled Basque. Some were blue-based too. I'll see if I can find pictures to post here.
We just add a pair of EOs to BYC's For Sale section: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/730736/millie-fleur-project-pair-of-eos-basque-in-ga
I know a lot of people make oogly eyes at the Millie Fleur pattern on them, so this is someone's chance to get started with that project. We have others...
WANTED: Columbian-type EO rooster. We had this gorgeous boy, but lost him to a domestic predator (ie. our dog). We haven't hatched out anything quite like him yet, so if we can find another like him we would LOVE to bring a better one in.
We are willing to trade Millie Fleur-type hens or pay...
Our Greenfire roo started crowing around 10-12 weeks! Our Skyline Roos were about 15-16 weeks at the time and quickly picked up on the crowing. At 21 weeks, no real mounting, just lots of chasing and no eggs. The Greenfire roo has started trying to mount his one girl this week at nearly 16 weeks.
Is anyone on here looking for a nice rooster? We've got two that are roughly 5 months old. Would hate to eat them if anyone has room for them. We have a third but he's only pet quality. Also, considering selling our Greenfire pair. Would prefer to sell to someone knowledgable and interested in...
Our chicks from Skyline are developing nicely and it looks like we have 7 cockerels and 9 pullets. So obviously some cockerels will have to go. We will probably keep two, maybe three. If anyone is interested in getting the others, let us know. Otherwise, my father-in-law will be thrilled to have...
Has anyone tried feather sexing with this breed? I know if can work for some. I see a difference in our new chicks but I'm not sure how reliable it is.
