Tyrion is awesome. And yeah, don't go at all by how they stand or pose, nor by tail curvature. Females also get a slight curve when young. Congrats on the egg!
Ameraucanas, no i in the name, do not come in those colors nor have green legs. It's just a false claim hatcheries/feedstores say, that they offer Ameraucanas when in fact they're Easter Eggers. Ameraucanas have blue legs and don't come in odd brown/black patterns.
I'd wait a bit longer to be...
chickenstew - Too young but it might, just might be a boy. I'd wait.
ESofVA - Looks kinda girly so far but it also looks kinda scraggly to tell. The comb is pretty small though.
Joe.G - If I remember right, yes, the rest are pullets.
Yep, agreed.
RedBarnFarms - looks like an OEGB or OEGB mix.
Joe.G - I looked for several pages and couldn't find it, could you direct me to a post # ?
Edited - Okay, went through your photos -
This looks like a boy and btw, congrats and nice photo!
This chick here, pick it up...
Just like saddle feathers, males don't actually get curled sickle feathers until much later. That color is undeniably female though. If it were male and genetically the same color, it would have a blue breast, reddish or white wings, and white neck/back.
A V comb is often found on breeds like Polish and Crevecoeurs, it looks exactly like a V or a Y facing forward like horns. I've got some EE's with such, but you need a V combed parent to make such, and it will only occur in the 2nd generation on.
What I mean by the egg gene is the blue egg...
Sorry!
Neither of those are EE though. They might have it behind them but do not carry the egg genes for it.
If I had to choose between EE roo and BO roo, temperament wise, it depends on the male but if I could only get a gamble, a one shot, I'd go BO unless the EE was a "homemade" type...
The likely cockerel is a definite cockerel and trust me, he's got saddle feathers. Most people think saddle feathers are always the ones that drape down the back, but actually at this age, they're just little glossy toothy looking baby feathers right between his wings. Pick him up, have a...
The one on the left, could be either. One on the right - Girl. One on the left could wait another week or two.
No whites as they're not sexable by color, however if someone had good photos to show the signs of a white male that would be nice. (shots in detail of the glossy feathers for...
Actually I didn't. I got one source I believe and after that I sort of forgot about it. It still stands though, as I'm still certainly willing to make it. I guess I should just ask around when I see good images.
I think she is just colorful and possibly carries the mahogany gene. If you really want to be sure, get some pics of her back, wings out of the way, and of her wing (shoulders) in more detail than currently shown. Or, you can inspect her yourself and look for any glossy or pointed or toothy...
To the comb question, yes. You'll get colored eggs again in the offspring.
To the chick color question - Pure white, no other colors, can mean either boy or girl but is more likely a girl. If it develops red in the breast, it is a girl. If it develops black in the neck and tail, and/or...
Yup, afraid it looks like he has slate legs, white soles, and beard/muffs. It looks like someone was using Lav Ameraucana. He's even got leakage. Still, a very handsome EE!
Single combs = no green or blue eggs. There's a tiny chance for it but not likely. Single combs usually mean your EE...
