Congrats everyone on the new babies and all the "about to be new" babies. I am so sorry for the losses. It's so hard to see the little ones struggle, but @WVduckchick you gave the last one it's best shot possible!! I am glad that I stopped hatching several months ago because I can no longer...

I have Brinsea Octagons, and I used some wire mesh and made arches, that I drop over half the eggs. It fits snuggly under the top without touching the fans. So, half are under the arch, and the other half are outside the wire.

WOW, officially empty and shut down.....I said that for ALMOST a year, then I got sucked in to hatch after hatch. I have 2 surviving babies from the last hatch (heat was brutal), and these Polish. I hatched 21 polish, I've sold 6, so I have a bunch left. WAY too many have spiky feathers, but...

Howdy everyone, can anyone confirm with me that these Polish are boys? They are 3 months old. They don't have the HUGE wattles that the other boys have. But they have spiky feathers.

Sadly we took extra care of all but 1 cage - somehow I forgot to adjust for the heat on my 6 little babies I just hatched a few weeks ago. 4 died....I'm sad..... bad animal care.....

I can't say I've had problems with the incuview, I just had a harder time controlling the humidity - but hey, I'm in Southern CA, and it's DRY, DRY, DRY. I did use a small fish tank, with a heater, floated a mason jar half filled with water, drilled 2 small holes in the cover. Used a fish...

I have never used a hovabator. I have a Little Giant, an Incuview and several Brinseas. I have TRIED to stop hatching, but during the worst of my addiction I had all of them in use. The best hatch rates are ALWAYS from the Brinseas, but it does totally depend on shipping or not. I agree...

EEK!!!! The incubator is pretty much full again. 2 different hatches. 1st are eggs I am hatching for Gotro17. When they hatch, they will go under her broody hens. No trouble there. 2nd batch.....I had them shipped to Gotro17's house. I told my family they are hers, but they are really...

I really, really do not need any more chicks hatching, but an absolutely gorgeous blue non crowing Maran roo, has been mating with my silverudd blue and splash hens, plus a silkie hen. Maybe even the Polish, although I haven't seen him go after them (they are MEAN). I'm temped to hatch the...

My tenant (who helps take care of the chickens) snapped this photo of my broody mom with her 5 babies. 3 Dbl Laced Barnvelders, 1 polish, and 1 silkie. The silkie is hiding. I LOVE the feathering on the Barnvelders, and the mohawk on the Polish. I can't wait to see what these look like as...

Wow, I'm so sorry to hear about all the losses and non performing roos. @Auroradream26 - I know you hatch a TON, just curious did you absolutely sterilize your brooder area this time around? I ended up loosing a bunch of chicks one time when I added some young ones directly into a bin that...

Hahahaha, does she ever read this thread???? I think that's why I live in the semi desert....I always have a struggle keeping the humidity high enough. I am super happy with my last hatch and I have people offering me eggs in trade for the free roosters I've giving away. I hated having to...

I have to put away my incubators and stay off ALL chicken related selling pages. My latest purchase was the 24 frizzled polish. She gave me 30 eggs. I had 25 hatch. I have grow out coop with the 15 chicks I won and all the ones from 2 of the 3 previous hatches. I have a small hatch - 3...

Yes, only almost. I'm not zoned for chickens, and I'm slowly going past 100 of them, adding ducks would DEFINITELY cause my family to have heart failure. :celebrate

Grrrrr, last night, I got home from work and saw that my Brinsia turning cradle crashed AGAIN!!! Crashed hard enough to actually crack open the incubator. All 30 Polish eggs piled up on the table. Good news, I didn't see any obvious cracks. Also, all the eggs were still warm. A couple were...
