Hey fellow d'Anver lovers! I love browsing all of these pictures of beautiful d'Anvers. Now I have question for everybody: are there any artists out there? We are currently trying to design an official logo for the Belgian Bearded d'Anver club of America (club just changed hands) and we left...

I know of a few people with my blue quail line that often produces some pretty nice quails. They just got some of my last birds in WA in December. Will PM you their info if you're interested.

Would love to get the opportunity to hatch some Columbian eggs. I have some Blue Buff Columbians myself, so I could easily integrate the Silver genes with them for a bit more genetic variety and to better set the Columbian traits. Most of mine have pretty clear backs. They need a little work...

Quote: We love picture updates here! JJ- I'm going to miss getting on here. My fun is over for the summer starting Monday. Been super busy - built a chicken-shelving unit this week and it's going to be the last tiered pen I'll really have time to build. Yes, this shelving unit was...

JJ- Rocky - is he one of the chicks you posted earlier out of your whites? He definitely is looking Mottled. Looks somewhat similar to one I called "Penguin", except the Penguin didn't have the cool isolated black around the eyes. He was also out of my White line of Blacks: I figured he was...

4hchickmama- I would agree that #9 looks self blue #10 could go in a couple directions but I am inclined to think that it is a White because it looks smokey and borderlines on splash - sorta like my white chicks #6 looks like a classic Blue d'Anver babe #7 ... again either a white or splash...

jj- the barring on the porcelain male's tail looks pretty typical of what you would expect from a lavender based bird. That is not a color thing - it is a feather growth line - some people call them stress lines, but this can be misleading because in many lavender based birds that is just the...

Boy JJ - sounds like two things going on at once to me...I would think coccidia to be a secondary infection...birds could just be shedding oocysts and suffering from a little bit of intestinal invasion at the same time as something else. That "going light" trait is pretty common in growing...

Mine seem to be sensitive but it is not super fatal anymore. I keep them on litter from day one and in hot weather, like right now - I see it flare up occasionally. I do not give any kind of medication - I actively breed for genetic resistance to it. I see a bird come down with it and I'll do...

Coccidia - you all mean coccidia, right? Not cocci bacteria? Sorry about the technicalities, I work in a micro lab.... Coccidia is kind of inevitable with most established flocks that are in a litter or floor based environment. It is everywhere. Really management of coccidiosis is more of...

Quote: Yes, it is a possibility I suppose. It is kind of like a reverse paint. Instead of having a mostly white bird with blobs of color, I have the opposite - mostly colored birds with blobs of white. Perhaps different in origin, but the idea is the same - it could be a new mutation or an...

Bad is a matter of perspective. We are simply teaching you to explore genetics and have fun with your birds. It makes hatching super exciting! I would say that is a good influence.

Maybe they will have big white amorphous blobs of white on their juvenile feathers in odd spots not found on normal solids like some of mine do from the whites!

Both of her parents came from my birds split for white - one half of the line is from the white male on solid females and the other from a solid male on a couple of white females. But that was a couple of generations ago - now I just keep all the birds together that I think carry the white gene...

I am adding a head shot of one of my current Blue Silver Quail cockerels for a good comb visual. This bird is really not turning out all that great since he started developing a wry tail, but he did get a good comb, so he makes a good temporary educational bird I guess. His comb fits close to...
