Here is "Simba" my 7 month old Roo I hatched this year and keeping. He is so sweet and I love his coloring :) Interesting thing is he was hatched black with yellow chest! So I guess you never know what they will end up like!
Has anyone heard of a breeder importing Mille cochins from Europe? There is a person in my area stating that??? Since I have been on this thread from the beginning I would have seen something like that but thought I would double check.....
Hopefully a quick question for someone that doesn't completely understand genetics:
Why are we using a mottled Cochin in the Mille project when they are known for molting and getting more and more white each year? I know its for the "type" but is there another color that would work...
Yeah I found her!!! She came out of where she was hiding at night night time, only she was standing at the bottom of the ramp hanging her head to the ground, puffed up and hardly able to move!!!
I brought her into the house for the last two days and gave her eggs, vitamins and lots of warmth and...
I can't believe my luck! My best pullet pictured above is "missing" and she was the only one i was keeping.... Why in the world could one of the extra Roos go missing!
Please keep me in mind if you have a nice pullet that needs a home:rolleyes:
This is the only pullet that came out with enough buff to consider keeping her for the Mille Project.... What do you think? She is 5 months old and will be laying soon...
Since I'm new to this can you please answer a question that may have been asked/answered already...
If I keep my mottled roo and the one mottled hen that are both split to Mille, would they make Mille babies or Mottled or both?
Thanks, just trying to figure out who to put together.
Here are update pics of the roo's I have growing out.... What do you think? nice enough to keep?
Rooster #1 (started Crowing this AM)
Rooster #2 (split mottled roo #3 in the background)
Splite Mottled Roo #3 (Calico Roo behind)
I appreciate your kind words and encouragement! I would take that hen over any of mine any day... So if that is a pinched tail then mine are completely pinched LOL..... Everyone has such gorgeous little bundles of joy!
Ok My friend just called me a "chicken snob"... And you know what I think she is right!!!!
I was outside with the chicks and talking to her about the coloring and shape etc.. And was pointing out all the things wrong with them...
I'm getting nice coloring, but the tails are pinched and the backs...
Oh WOW is that ever pretty! I guess I have a LLLLOOONNNNGGG way to go! Do you ever sell chicks/eggs/pullets etc from this beauty? I would love to get my hands on one to help me along :-)
Now hopefully we can see a rooster too!
