I know they are but frankly they aren't as nice as when the hackle is clean. Brian had some amazing birds at the show! If they were his Favs I liked them a lot and then he had these SLWB that were fall down good but I personally was in love with his bantam Cornish. It was a good show. I...

There were three nice Favs at the Fall Windsor show here in Maine. The cockerel had good size and great shanks/toes but he did have 'burns' in his hackles. The females were pretty gorgeous. Its always nice to see them. No bantams this time, which is new for me. Usually its no LF.

IDK either. I don't have a copy. I was told about it from a retired judge that I confer with sometimes. He had really good things to say about them.

The poultry press had an article about a person in Ohio with nice black Faverolles. Any idea who that was?

FWIW the coveted Marans egg is a sphere not ovoid and they still hatch out males and females no matter the shape. Let me clarify-the egg shape most sought and prized is round and both sexes come out of that shape.

I am glad to have known what to say. I have had a few breeds here with five toes and they seem to catch on things which worries me more than the spurs. I learned about removing spurs last year when this friend of mine showed me her cockerel who had this spur that was nearly as long as his leg...

No. You can remove spurs if you want to. If he isn't bleeding a lot he's fine. Stop the bleeding and let him go about his business. It will be a little sore, like you tearing or losing a nail so watching him so he isn't getting kicked around by others since he has no spur on that side to...

Thank you Henry. I have read a few times two things which make a difference to the growth and development of birds which I have yet to really try playing with: light and separating sexes. I read consistently that raising males apart from females gives the females a chance to develop and put on...

I have a question that might have been asked already. By show of hands [ha ha] how many of you raise your Favorelles for meat and use the autosexing trait to separate out early so you can grow cockrels for meat? Additionally, does anyone caponise their Favs? And one more while we are on this...

Yesterday's CMBF show had LF Favs!!! for sale and in the show! It was great to see them and I talked to the folks with them. They were from NH and I thought the birds in the show looked pretty darn good. My camera wasn't working at all so I didn't get a single pic. I should have liked to...

Other birds, esp parrots, do this. I am guessing but if its shiny like the back of a beetle, they peck it. Crows like shiny things to line their nests. Can you imagine a fav nest lined with ... ear rings in this case? "Some very fancy chicks live there." This does not explain their love of...
