I could kvetch about incubators. I need to find the quintessential incubator (because none of my hens are broody right now). I need one that keeps the humidity and the temp right without me having to check it every five minutes. My poor chicks are suffering because I couldn't get the humidity...
this has been the worst hatch ever. My second chick has unabsorbed yolk sack. She's perky but she has that little sack hanging off her belly. Should I leave her in the incubator until it's absorbed? Will it absorb? I've read on here that you can tie it off with dental floss. Anyone else ever...
Congrats so far!! Are you going to put up pictures soon?
My chick is doing MUCH better, I gave her the yolk mixed with probiotic and vitamin powder, and she did start to perk right up, and her eyes are open now!! She's much more stable and exploring. My last remaining egg out of 18 is still...
what should the humidity be when they're in lockdown? Maybe mine is too high? Also i just hand fed the chick with what I had yolk and pro-biotic, getting some vitamin today.
Thanks for the advice.
I hear a chick in another egg, but nothing for hours no pip. My hatched chick wont make it. She had both eyes open and then one eye closed and now both eyes closed. She's lethargic, it's not looking good.
here's my only chick (so far - hope the other two hatch too)
it's kind of hard to tell it's face is turned away resting on the other egg. It has kind of like a hump on its neck... not sure what that is.
there are no pips or sound coming from the other eggs.
I know what you mean! my egg (only one out of three) pipped this morning about 6:00 I hear chirping inside. I don't hear anything from the other eggs yet. It's 2 now and no zipping yet.... praying for you
LOCKDOWN!!
my remaining three out of 18 had signs of life two days ago, I listened to them this morning but didn't hear anything, my candler sucks so I couldn't see any movement in side. I've got them in the carton, temp is okay, struggling to get the humidity past 60.
we'll see how it...
