My experience is that gold (red) leaks the most with recessive white and males will show it more than the females. I would try getting a new cock bird from a different line.

Looks like a wheaten cockerel and two pullets. They are of the wheaten variety. They hatch out with pink or skin colored legs and feet and they get darker as the bird matures.

Cute babies Duane. I haven't started my incubator yet. It's 12 here today.

If I didn't breed them, then they are no longer my line. Sometimes wheaten chicks will have a spot or two on their head or back.

Stubbs happen in that variety from time to time. Don't use the bird for breeding.

I got eggs from them last year and had very poor hatch rates and ended up with birds with yellow skin. I culled them all.

Did you get the birds directly from Paul Smith? And, no, I would not use a clean faced bird.

If a bird is clean faced, it does not have a copy of the beard and muff gene. A good breeder will eventually weed out any birds that are producing clean faced offspring.

On the ee's it more likely that a single mb carrying bird was bred to a bird without a muff and beard.

Doesn't look like any splash I've hatched before. Looks like someone tried to breed up easter eggers. They look more like leaky dominant white to me.

The frontline spray is still cheaper when you consider the amount in a small packet compared to what is in the bottle.......

I would also say that your new girl may be a cockerel. Generally cockerels develop red on the wings, not pullets. I would also day the bird is an easter egger, not an ameraucana.

These are not splash, they are wheatens. Splash chicks should have slate legs when they hatch.

It will take several weeks for their legs to turn slate, not just two.
