Our conditioning stalls have smooth, solid sides and back.I leave the fronts open with screen wire to not damage feathers.I use deep pine shavings in the floor of all of these pens.
We have both,OEGB and American Game fowl. The Americans do take alot longer to mature than the OEGB.The two breeds do resemble each other but that is about it.In my experience breeding and raising both breeds there is very little that they have in common as far as maturing, broodiness,or attitude.

We focused hard on december this year with just a few varieties and let the others go as they hatched so I have very little here that the kids did not intend to show. I did focus a considerable effort on Columbian for next years breeder birds and got 1 very nice cockrell anyway, I am...
We are really going to be pushing it to have very many cockerels ready for the November shows. We should be loaded for the later,February and March shows.I do have several pullets that should be about right for November,I may just show all females early this year.

I am glad to hear you guys are getting a break. It has been cloudy all day here also.I am going to try and get out and...
Sound like we may get a break in this heat by the middle of the week!I need it bad.I have a few cockerels that need trimmed before they get a thumb print.Hopefully I can get them next weekend.I am just very ready for fall and show season.

If you are planning on buying birds there I would suggest contacting a few exhibitors ahead of time.If someone has something you want they could bring it with them for you.I think you will get better birds that way instead of just buying from the sale area.
I looked through a few birds today.I believe I am going to have to trim another round of them.I wish we could get some relief from this heat first. But they have to be done soon, hot or not.
Just take your son and have fun!Thats all that really matters anyway.Let us know how you do.Like jarvis said,If you need any help just ask.I won't guarantee I know the answer but I will help if I can.
Well, one more sorting and our growout pens will finally be empty! We started hatching in February so I am glad the chick stage is over. Now the fun part starts.
That is one thing I always make sure of before giving birds away.I have to know that the kid wants to learn.I have show coops set up here and when they come by I help them figure out how the whole thing works.I didnt have anyone around interested in poultry when I was young.I was lucky enough to...
