I always get a little thrill when I find a use for a fabric that didn't work for a project it was bought for. Your new project is looking good!
and your Fortitude Quilt is beautiful! Yay for finishing it!
@speckledhen we lived in Wyoming when I joined BYC, we moved to Wisconsin last year - DH in January and I moved here when our house sold in August. My new house is a 1935 Craftsman with a fully enclosed front porch. I love it, although it has been to cold to use it much.
Maybe this will give...
I like the orange. It seems to accent the other orange and perk up the quilt nicely.
I also liked the color content of the chicken wire, but the geometric of the print just seems off with all the prints going on.
I am not sure why I don't like the yellow fabric. For some reason, it just...
BTW, we have a king size bed. DH is 6'4 and 250 pounds+, with my 250 pounds it is necessary. He wanted me to make us a quilt. thankfully a friend purchased a king log cabin quilt set, used it for a month and didn't like it so gave it to us. Our spare is a queen and the second spare is a queen...
That quilt turned out beautiful! You did an awesome job. You have made a friend forever in the grandma and you will be remembered in Ms Vicki's heart for the rest of her life.
If you can't tell, I am in awe of your skills and willingness to do this for these people. God bless you!
It is really nice of you to do this for them!
It gives me warm fuzzies just to think of how thankful/happy grandma will be to see it finished. A big thank you from me also!! I hope your hands hold up ok. That carpel tunnel really sucks!
How long do you think it would take to do the sewing that it needs? How wide is the border and what pattern; how much sewing is that going to be?
I am a very slow hand quilter, so it would probably take about 6 hours per fan, and 2 hours per pink border. That is about 100 hours of hand...
I told DH that I would put a sheet of clear plastic over any table cloth that I would put on the table. You can get it fairly cheap at Wal-Mart.
We have 2 cats, they would be laying on the table cloth all the time! just because they shouldn't of course. I have such a hard time with animal...
That table runner is beautiful!
DH keeps saying that we need to put a table cloth on our dining room table because the finish is coming off. It as an Ashley Furniture table and all they used on it was a cheap, wipe-on gel stain. I will never buy that brand of furniture again.
Anyways, I need...
I think the lavender blender fabric will overpower the lighter colored blocks, too strong of a color for the rest of the blocks for my taste.
My first choice would be the white, I think the white will look really nice as a thin border with the lavender binding; it will frame out the quilt...
The new try is a lot better, but you have the tension a bit too high - you can see the fabric puckering. What does the back look like - my guess is that the back thread is tight and the top thread is pulled all the way through and you can see the loops on the bottom.
It takes time to see how...
I was thinking the red would be better, but I gotta tell you now that you have the blocks going together the green/teal is perfect. It really makes the rooster fabric pop.
It looks great!
I am eating honey and cinnamon on toast every morning. I heard that it was good for arthritis and I have been having aches in my finger and hand joints. I haven't been diagnosed with arthritis yet, but it runs in my family. My dad, his mother and a number of my aunts all have/had really bad...
Your latest creation is beautiful! I like your choice of colors.
When you use it on the table, do you scotch guard it or protect it from spills at all?
