I didn't find what I was searching for, but like wwmicasa1, I think an open coop would be perfect for your location. Can you get some strong men to come and reposition your coop?

@ wwmicasa1: That is a great looking pen! What are those, giant gears? Very cool...wish I didn't have hurricane force winds up here.

You know what I might do, its just build a open coop next to it, and give them the option of going in and out between the two.

Lynne, those are cool wheels/gears! I suppose if I had 500 chickens, I wouldn't be quite so fretful! Don't you just love how they come back and put themselves to bed on their own!

But these wheels are iron. My DH got them from the phone co. They use them for cable. Recycle is the name of the game here at our place. Everything is either recycled, rebuilt, refurbished or reused. My hubby is the best at recycling. Did you notice the doors? They are from an old Model T that his parents had on their property. The corregated roofing is from his Grandparents homestead from 1930. That family doesn't throw "anything" away~!!

I've never heard of it being bad for a chicken to get wet (I'm a newbie). Mine free range during the day like yours, and I was surprised to see them out in the rain the other day, happy as clams digging for worms - they were very wet! I think they usually run for cover when it rains. Should I not let them free range when it's raining?

That pumpkin coop is so clever!! What a fun place you have.

How does your roof not blow off your run then? We bolt everything down and still loose roofing, railing, siding, etc...My neighbors porch blew off the front and landed in the back yard! Another neighbor had a sturdy 10 x 14 outbuilding on skids and it ended up on it's side. That's why we bolted our coop to a concrete pad. I didn't want to see my chickens flying whilst still in the coop!!

Anyone want any egg carton flats? I can bring them down on the 22nd.
