The Silver Laced Wyandotte Thread

Pics
My poor Stephanie is having the WORST month. She has a terrible limp, an infected leg, forced to take pills, and is going through her first tough molt. But to top it off, she lost her sister, who she came home with and they grew up together for 16 months, just the two of them :(

Anyways, when her new feathers grow in... Does the pattern ever look different? Like could the lacing look a little nicer second time around? :)

Here is my hunny!

Awww she is cute sucks for her bad luck , but she will be ok, she will molt with little change in feathers, at least my girl didn't, I was hoping but no luck...Kim

I finally remembered the wife's camera when I went to the pens today. These SLW's are 20 weeks. I'm not making up my mind right now, but it looks like three pullets and a couple cockerels might make it to the breeding pens.

They are turning out nice, can't wait to see them older and more mature. I have some SQ SLW eggs in the incubator, I can't wait. What bloodlines are these descended from?

I hate to say it but to me the first one seems rooish............. shape of the head , beak something, maybe wrong as I only have 1 hen but I usually have a feeling even b4 I know the sex......let us know if they lay or crow............Kim

I say they are both pullets. With the amount of feathers they already have in their wattles and combs would already be bright red. Here is some examples of what they would look like if they were boys. I knew mine were boys by 4-6 weeks. Also cockerels feather out much more slowly then hens. You can see the 3rd picture I loaded and see how he still has much of his fuzz still even through he is fairly old. All the pullets the same age as him are already, for the most part, feathered out. Hope the pictures help! I'm sure you have hens :).

Silver penciled boy probably around the same age as yours

Thank you, GostRider65 and dracoe19! I'm leaning towards pullets, too, but I'm still new at this. I'll post pictures again in a few weeks. I can't wait to see what their lacing looks like when they mature.
