Eau Claire WI second year in a row NO!

The vote was tied 5-5 so that means NO. At this point, after all that some people have done, I think Eau Claire is just going to have to wait a while before they try it again. Or some new councilmen get in there.

When I lived in town I put a small garden in and a small rain garden in and you would have thought my neighbors were going to die!!!!

They just added so many chemicals to there lawn it made me sick because I have asthma on top of it!

Sounds like that newspaper might be partly to blame. If they are running mostly negative opinions it could be their way of trying to spin this in the favor of whoever is running things there. Have you tried approaching the newspaper and getting more pro opinions out?

I was in Eau Claire for a while. That is one of the worst "newspapers" I have ever seen. They are so one-sided it is unbelievable. It ranks up there with the National Enquirer. I don't think they ever heard of research - if they found someone with an opinion that they liked, they ran the story. Try to get something published that is contrary to the opinion of the owner/editor/or whoever it is that runs that joint; it ain't going happen. "Facts - what's that? We don't need no stinkin' facts!"

We used to have a contest. It went like this: each person got one page of the paper - we would rip along the center where it is folded - and we could use the front and back of the sheet. Mark every spelling error, gramatical error and typo. Whoever found the most errors on their sheet won. Loser brought treats to share the next day. Once I had a sheet that was half ad's - and I still won off errors in the ad's.

Good luck with your fight for backyard flocks.

Yes I think the newspaper is partially to blame also. No other issue is this well publicized right before a city councel vote than this.

I felt like taking a load of chicken manure over to that one persons house that said the chickens were using their neighbor's pool and dumping it in her front yard.

Maybe you could give us (BYC) the newspaper's address and let the Backyard Forum people send in out opinions and "FACTS" about Chickens. Give us some details about the opinion colums and let us flood it.

Start a new subject and request out help. I'd be happy to.

Really!? The swimming pool? I would think that would have been a drowned chicken. Sound more like an Urban Legend like Big Foot or something. LOL

Urban Legend is it!!! Well sadly it has been nixxed for now. Next time it comes up I will heed your advice and request help from BYC for the newspaper opinion page.

Not trying to derail the post, but this is true of every "professional" news organization out there now. Reuters and AP are some of the worst grammar and spelling offenders.

Be prepared for the next time this issue comes up by having all the facts and sharing them with your favorite newspaper reporter.
