Got a new coop and already

We covered it in painters tape for now. Since it will be a while before we can get something like plywood.

Can you add a then layer of sand? Not sure how it would work but we used to coat steps with paint and sprinkle sand onto the wet paint. Kid proof paint and clean sand may work.

We are thinking of kid safe paint for it but didn't think of the sand. Might work.
 
They will probably start picking and eating that painters tape!
A rubber stall mat, cut to size, will be a much better and long lasting surface over this thing. Then shavings or some good bedding material over the mat.
And dowels are not at all good as roosts. Better a sapling or branch, bark on, 3" or 4" diameter.

Yeah it's just a temporary I worry about them eating it too but they only sleep in the coop. They are mostly free roam
