Cool looking coop! I like the garden on the roof!
Rated this article low because you don’t show, explain how to build this. Which I understand because you are trying to sell them, so you don’t want to share all your secrets!

I really like you coop and run. My only issue is that you used chicken wire which is designed to keep chickens in but does NOT keep predators out!!

I like that you added the fake door to make it symmetrical!
Thanks for sharing your coop and run with us.
Now that it has been in use, is there anything that you would do differently? About how much did you end up spending?
I like your sketch ups of your walls and ideas. It looks like you created a nice big area for them with that run. The only issue I have is that you used chicken wire on part of the run. Raccoons can climb and I am concerned that they will climb up to the chicken wire part and then tear into it. Chicken wire keeps chickens in but does NOT keep predators out!
From having lived in Florida, I don't think you have to worry about it getting too cold!

Thanks for sharing your coop and run ideas with us. Enjoy those devilled eggs!

Wonderful run area. Nice coop. No details about what you wanted or how it was built.

Awesome job designing a coop out of a plastic storage unit.
You give good descriptions which I think would enable others to re-create this for themselves!

Nice coop. What is the white tray in the bottom under/behind the ramp? How many chickens are you going to house there? Good idea with hanging the bells on the chicken wire, however, I still think it would be 100 x's more secure if you had used hardware cloth everywhere you used chicken wire.
How easy is it to move?
Now that you have been using it, is there anything you would do differently if you were to build it again?
Wow! I clicked on the thread that was linked and read all 9 pages! There is a lot of information in there! Thanks for sharing your coop with us

I like how you explained the system for moving the tractor around. I would have liked some more pictures or explanations about how exactly you built the coop. I like how you incorporated the watering system with the hose connection. Do you have to unhook the hose when you move the tractor? Or do you just lift or move the hose so you aren't running over it when you are moving the tractor? Does the hose ever freeze in the winter?
Hopefully, your neighbors have been fine with your chickens!

I was really looking forward to seeing/reading about how you transformed the playhouse into a chicken coop! However, your article does not address that at all.
I would have liked to see how you connected the sides together so the would stay. What all you did to the windows to make them predator proof, where and how you added roosts for the chickens, where and how did you add the nesting boxes and where and how did you arrange the food and water. I did gather from your article that clean out of the coop may not be very easy since you said it was getting smelly. The stuffy comment makes me wonder if you have enough ventilation.

What a cool find! A brick chicken coop. I am so glad that your family put in the effort to clean it out and fix it up!
I don't know why, but I was surprised that the skylights were original to the building. I guess I think of them as being a newer thing.
It looks to me like you did an awesome job renovating the coop to your purposes.
My only concern would be that illness or diseases could spread unchecked through the coop since there are no walls separating the different coops (other than wire).

Thanks for sharing your coop with us. I would love to see an updated picture with the new dutch door in place.

What cute touches with the off kilter white trim.

It looks like you used chicken wire on at least part of your coop. Chicken wire is NOT predator proof!! Hardware cloth would be more secure.
Is that insulation hanging down around the back of the nest boxes? Chickens aren't above eating that, causing problems for themselves.
It would be helpful to have either more pictures of the building process or detailed descriptions of what was done during the build. What are the dimensions of the coop?

Are there anythings you would do differently, if you were to build this coop again?

You turned your dog kennel into a real nice chicken coop! I was not thinking of that kind of a dog kennel when I read the title, but once I read your article it made sense. Maybe it will give someone else an idea of how to do the same thing with something similar.

I love that you made it on top of your garden and that you can slide it from one end to the other so that you can switch between sides being fertilized!
I am guessing that the run part is detachable and you just re-attach it on the other side after you slide the coop down.
I would have liked to see the drawings of the plans. What is obvious for some, isn't obvious or simple for others.
I also am concerned that you used chicken wire. Despite the name, chicken wire does not keep chickens safe from predators, it just keeps chickens in, not predators out. Hardware cloth would make your coop more secure.
Thank you for sharing your coop and innovative idea with us!

You have quite the set up for your chickens. Funny, isn't it, how things grow from a simple start of "let's get some chickens"!
My only concern is that you used chicken wire all around the coop and run. Chicken wire is NOT predator proof. A more secure option would be to use hardware cloth.

I would have liked to see what the coop builder did with the coop. What does it look like inside? What are the dimensions, that sort of thing.

I do like how you used all of the old bricks to cover the bottom of the small run. Kind of looks like an old brick road! Is it easy to keep clean?

I really like how you took us with you through all of your versions of this chicken coop and talked about what drove you to try something different.
Good job doing your research on BYC and sticking with it until you were able to create a coop that worked for you and your environment! I like the use of the milk carton. I live in the states and I still use several ice cream tubs for water stations around my chicken yards!
I liked seeing how you wove the palm fronds ( or whatever it was) to make a shade cover for the jungle run!

Your coop looks really nice, however there aren't a lot of details about the build except what you can figure out from the pictures. I would have liked a sketch of your design , or a supplies list or some text about what you did to build the coop. What features did you put on the inside? Did you insulate or just leave plain wood on the inside?

I love all the ventilation you built into your coop!
If you were to build this again is there anything you would do differently?
