A hundred thousand lives
The aftermath of a natural disaster
The statistic that doesn't matter
As much as the death of one famous man
Who were these people?
Who most see as another to a death toll?

I am nothing to write home about
I have spent my time coming in
second, third, hundredth place.
Have I made someone smile?
Helped to make their day better?
Laughed with someone who's been good to me?

I am truly happy for you
Wherever you go from now,
I wish you luck on your journey
I'll take my place in the back seat
And live on the belief that the little successes
Have been what makes it work

Millions of ordinary people like me
Who will they become?
Part of a statistic?
Just another number?

It is the ordinary people who dream
Who write the stories of humanity
Tales of survival, of adventure
Of determination and courage
Seven billion stories and counting
Every small part of the world comes together
To create something extraordinary.

Yeah, it's nice, isn't it?
And especially the part in the middle, how some people can even be a nobody among other ordinaries.

The ghosts of the life of those
Unrecognised
Who are losing the will to see
If there is anything still ahead
Misty lights on the river
There's an ending to every story
But not every ending is
The one they've dreamed of all along
Because at the end of the day
The river's just a river

OMG, I'm going to have to stop posting depressing stuff!

Skip to page two if you want something more interesting. I've put it in bold - the stuff I usually write consists of rhyming items that diss politicians, air traffic control systems and use big words.

This is one of my favourite songs:
Count the stars
Watch the waves
Absorb the summmer sun
And think of me
When you explore
Hidden coves and tiny island chains
Throughout the sea
Can you still hear my voice
When I'm outside
From over the phone
For what it's worth, darling dear
I wish you were here
When you were home, we'd sing
But since you left I don't hear anything
And though I feel so sad
I can't believe things are really that bad.

Old captains and brand new cruiseships
Sailing over the briny sea
I'll crash my beloved desk job
And swim through the debris
I'll cut loose and leave this madhouse
Bound for the Atlantic blue
I'll stroll down your tree-lined driveway
And sail the ocean with you
