Sexing Ameraucana chicks

Can you post pics of your babies? I have EEs (the guy said they were ameraucanas) and I have successfully sexed every one of them at about 2 weeks. This is just luck, I'm sure.

Oh duh, you said they haven't hatched yet. I've always been able to tell by the comb though.

The comb is one way, though not foolproof. The pea combed males have more raised combs with the rows of 'peas' all showing. The center ridge on the pullets is usually the only one that shows and their comb stays yellow much longer. Below, see two of my birds from awhile back, male and female about six weeks old. See the difference? Some dont have great combs and those are harder to sex. Two boys, then two girls:

the way i saw it,, you just give a little squeeze,, just like you were holding and luv'n on em,, just to see if they gotta poo,,, so you dont get poo in ya eye,, then they spread the area, and look for "poarts",, you'd have to be awful "out of touch" to hurt them while taking a look-see lol

but,, even though ive had people try to show me,, i refuse to do it,,,, there'd be to many accidents when people drive by seeing me looking up a chickens ........
 
Ive read in the past thatthe shape of the egg can determine the sex of the chick. Football-shaped eggs house boy chicks, and more oval or round-shaped eggs will house girl chicks. He went on to say he was “nearly 100% accurate” when sexing chicks by this method. Honestly dont know the accuracy of this is, but to each is own.

Vent sexing is not a sure thing and it need's to be accomplished in the first few hours of the hatch as this is when the blood is most active down there ... If you have had children you will understand what I am saying .......

For the most part I wait and see .....
 
You can sex the chicks at just days old by taking there wings and seeing if the wing feathers are even (which means its a female) and if the wing feathers are uneven (which means its a male) hope this helped
