Came home from rounding up the neighbor's sheep and lamb that were in the middle of the road to find the other neighbor's dog carrying around my favorite Blue Andalusian baby. Ran in to get my gun, but he was gone. Went to go assess the damage, and just found a total massacre. He got in the barn and into the pens. My first hen, Petunia, a dark Cornish was in the rafters along with the two Guineas. My RIR pullet was balanced on a beam, and my Red Star was squeezed into the wall space. Amazingly, the geese were in the OTHER pen, somehow, and escaped the carnage.
I lost:
My beautiful brown leghorn that I was sending to Gracefulbantams.
One of my Buff Orpington pullets.
My NH pullet.
Barred rock pullet baby.
Blue Andalusian roo baby.
3 Wellsummer pullet babies.
Right now, these are MIA:
My favorite BO pullet, Violet.
Her BFF, Goldie, a golden comet.
A Wellsummer roo and pullet baby.
2 Barred Rock pullet babies.
We found my Barred Rock Roo half-alive and he is being hand fed Gatorade right now. It doesn't look like he is going to make it. No obvious blood, but I think he has massive internal injuries.
I am really hoping that the two friends are hiding somewhere together, but since she hasn't come out yet, I fear the worst.
I went to the neighbors with my gun and asked who's dog it was...son's girlfriend.
I told them what happened and told them they better keep the dog tied up, or else. I'm waiting for the parents to get home to talk to them about it.
My egglayers are completely decimated. I am so glad I saw the dog with the bird, because I would have been afraid it was our new LGD puppy, but she was protecting the goats, like she is supposed to!
Just wanted to vent. I am just sick about this. Maybe the MIA ones will come home, but we are in the woods, so if they don't come home before dark, they probably won't make the night.
