We found our chick with skin missing on the back of her head maybe half an inch of her actual neck showing. We disinfected the area and she is acting normal. How can we get this to heal?
Hey all! Hoping everyone and their chickens are safe!! We lost 2 chicks recently so we are in the grieving process. but that's besides the point. Tonight we need some help with our original runt. She has always been small. Here we are at 20 weeks and she has no comb and no waddles!! what could...
We have a chick in a similar situation to yours. She is now six weeks old and is just now developing her tail feathers. All of our chicks are the same age and we have kept them together the whole time. We were afraid to let her outside with the rest but she has been great outside! As long as the...
We are in south jersey! It's getting warmer here at night so we put them out there tonight! In the winter we are thinking of adding some insulation in the eves of the roof! Thanks for the help!
Hers is what we have so far! The nesting boxes can be changed and we still have a while before they start laying! We are starting with the shavings because that is what we have right now, but open to trying straw too! Thanks!
We went with the pine shavings, for now, to see how it goes! And we also put the nesting boxes inside because it is very easy to walk into the coop and access them that way. Still a work in progress!
Hi Everyone! Hope everyone is well! Tonight we put our six week old chicks in their coop for the first time. There are six of them all together in there. We feel confident it is predator-proof, but unsure of the weather and if they might get cold throughout the night. The lowest temp tonight is...
They both look like pullets to me! These are ours! The bigger one is definitely a little feisty and I have caught her running to the other chickens and jumping on them. She is a bit of a bully, but I think that might just be their personality especially since she's a larger one of the group. The...
You could just take them to the backyard for an hour or so! Until we got a dust bath set up for the chicks we brought them outside on nice warm days and let them try it!
Okay we also got ours from a bin labeled asian black. We have to wait for the runt to grow some more to see how she turns out. Just odd they are labeled the same breed but one has grown so much more than the other.
