    I think all my hens are winter birds. It has been cold here. 11 degrees and hard freezes and even this morning is sleeting. I have got more eggs in the last 4 weeks than I have got in the last 4 months.

    I have got 10 out of 12 hens for the third day in a row. And 54 in the last 6 days. It has been freezing here. 11 degrees a couple days. I think my hen loves the cold or the red heat lamp on at night are causing them to go ADD on me.

    You are right. the 6 Barred Rocks are Bantams. Easy to pick out thier eggs. The 4 Astralorps Lay LARGE eggs so they are easy to pick out. The white Eggs could have been from our Blue EE that lays the pinkish Brown eggs.

    I feel like I enjoy the bantams eggs more because of the yolk to white ratio. The bantams have more yolk. I wonder if that goes for all bantam eggs.     My birds go on the roost as early as 3:15 if its cloudy and no later than 4:00. They are so funny.

    I hate to say I do not like my 2 EE,s. They lay plain brown eggs and only lay 1 egg per week. They are 8 months old and very nice looking. ....Birmingham Area. Free to good home. Will deliver locally. I have limited space.

    High velocity eggs!?

    I use foam egg shell on the bottom and cover it with timithy hay. and I have a four inch lip on the nest.
