Hi, I have 2 older RIR and 3 Comets that were new this year and a couple of bantams. All were laying until the weather changed. I am in N. Michigan. I am assuming it is the shorter days as all look healthy.
I am new to chickens this year. I was feeding my hens layer feed and was getting 3-5 eggs a day(including 1 bantam egg) finally. I ran out of layer feed and wasn't able to get more right away and they totally stopped laying in 3 days. On the 4th I was able to get to the feed store and I am now...
I want in too! So great NOT to be ALONE! March 24th and April 1st. I thought I was doing something wrong (my first time with chickens)!
Patience, patience, patience........................................
Out of 17 birds - 9 various breeds of chickens and 4 sweet bantams and 4 ducks. I have a female duck that is so loud and so noisy constantly....all the rest are quiet. Depends on the birds.....If there were to be a complaint it would be because of my duck, she just never shut's up.

The men skinned for convience. A lot less mess and a huge time saver. All 10 were done in about an hour between two people. Of course this was not a planned event...It was now what do we do with 10 chickens the neighbors no longer want? I have 7 layers, 2 roos, 4 bantam babies and now 4 ducks (2...
This is my first time with chickens and I bought mine for eggs. My neighbors also got some chicks and decided they didn't want them so they have been in my dog kennel for the last few weeks. They were bought as day old chicks 3/25/2010. There chicks turned out to be meaties ( I thought there was...
