Ducks-We want some great layers,a broody mother,& friendly
I've got a flock of Welsh Harlequins I got just because 1) They lay great and 2) They are very friendly. Though I can't fully vouch for either as they're very young still. I won't fully judge them until they're at least a year old. -

Oh, it's not the two Pekins that are any issue at this point. It's the 11 little WH ducklings. They are such a huge sloppy mess in the chicken coop that we're now overrun with flies. -

how how HOW!!!!!!!
Increased moisture content in the poop compared to chickens causes smells, litter issues and flies. Just a fact of ducks. -

Uses for duck feathers
The good looking feathers can be cast into resin and turned into turning blanks to make pens. Mostly use tail feathers from chickens and game birds for this, but I'm sure some kinds of duck feathers would make nice pen blanks. That or use them for fly fishing.
